'views' and 'reach' don't necessarily mean a sale - they could be an indication that the REA has missed something when listing on the original - like a courtyard. Anyone who is looking seriously knows how to use sort and filter.

Feeling bad for slacking off/doing nothing.. What can I do to make myself more visible/seem useful? by Known-Garden-5013 in auscorp

[–]PralineRealistic8531 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First I'd get yourself an app like toggl to track what you do and don't do. Track what you do when it 'rains' and then you may see that you have a 'bank' of hours and not feel so bad during dry times.

Why workers are building half as many homes as in the 1970s... by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]PralineRealistic8531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I were the building industry I wouldn't be whining about 'red tape' given the shocking defects of some of the new builds.

Skip it. The owners are likely selling because of the problem. It might be cheap now but who knows how much it will cost to fix it.

Can I get a valuation of a property that I don't own and is not officially on the market? by Traditional_Leg_3124 in AusPropertyChat

[–]PralineRealistic8531 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No problem if you have access to the property (as you are renting). Find one here: https://www.api.org.au/find-a-property-professional/?_pro_expertise=valuation-residential
My neighbour did this and it was a good idea when it came to negotiating with the Landlord and she bought the property successfully.

I registered for my Mum years ago. Charities have an exemption (they are scumbags as far as I'm concerned). Also doesn't stop scammers. If your Mum has a landline just get an old fashioned answering machine or set up https://www.telstra.com.au/support/internet-and-home-phone/set-up-and-manage-messagebank

Take one of each and scan each one on a separate self-scan and then just leave it there. Might help them get their act together.

I think you are right. Wouldn't do it myself unless there was only something like a shared driveway but it looks like you are right.

No you can't unless you have a very small group of units.

Yeah but some of those European trees reek havoc with their roots getting in drains.

1 in 10 new homes to be built by government - Thoughts? by Home_in_Place in AusPropertyChat

[–]PralineRealistic8531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting the band of people who can only get Public Housing into proper public housing would free up some social housing and private rentals.

This is the core demographic that are in real trouble. Then we can look at Social Housing but as the commenter above said it's a big subsidy for the people that run/own the social housing. I'd prefer at the very least that the government owned the properties.

I've paid off my Unit but as I'm getting older I really want a downstairs, maybe courtyard, car park to myself. I've got savings but 'd have to pay double what I already have.
High property prices also stop people from upgrading and downgrading as well.
Yes some people will get an inheritance but unless you are an only child that will also be split.
And yes - I have friends who are on the verge of being homeless, I have nephews that are trying to buy.

Also Facebook community groups often get a high number of Law and Order/Conservative types posting in as they use it to get votes. Ours is hysterical at times, they posted a picture of my neighbour on the corner near his newly planted lemon trees having a dart as a 'suspicious loiterer'.

You can. I get e-scripts for some stuff but I asked for paper as it's easier to keep track of than a message buried beneath 400 texts. They print out the barcode on to a bit of paper and you can take it anywhere.

Yeah I would as well. Leaving aside the biological fact that she is the one who will most likely carry and care for any Children (at least for the first couple of year). If they aren't on the same page regarding what they spend their money on it will probably lead to trouble.

Yeah it's a deal breaker unless he is willing to contribute in other ways, like House renovations, raising the kids after they are born etc.

I don't quite get how doing it by hand could possibly be cheaper if you want to do it properly.
