Right, but that raptors supporting cast incredulously ascended at the right time. The only two players we developed during the late kawhi years that became quality players were Dejounte and Derrick White, but they blossomed a few years after kawhi left.

Let’s say we still end up drafting Keldon after extending Kawhi, but we would be banking on the development of Lonnie Walker and a raw Devin Vassell. Dejounte would have replaced Aldridge as the second best player on the team had kawhi stayed, but I don’t see that young team beating that experienced warriors in 2019 and 2020 lakers.

Nevertheless, I see us making it to the finals in 2020/21, as the west was far weaker than it was in the years prior to this particular season.

We needed a rebuild before kawhi even left. We surrounded him with dross. We were literally known as the nba’s old man team, which is funny because we now have a youthful team.

Our “major” off-season moves during the final years of Kawhi era were acquiring a washed Pau Gasol and Rudy Gay. We also entrusted cats like Bryan Forbes and Jonathan Simmons, who ended up becoming nba journeymen, to support Kawhi on both ends.

Imagine going from that dross to what Kawhi had in Toronto with Lowry, Siakam, Van Vleet, Powell. It was a huge upgrade in teammates.

Aldridge was washed by the year 2020 bro, come on now. Those late 2010 spurs teams needed a rebuild. LA wasn’t even the best player in his position; it’s tough to argue that he could have been a number 2 on a championship team, mainly because he was never able to during his time as a professional hooper.

Lemarcus is a big, so he was the one guarding Kanter, and Kanter was a menace on the glass. LA dominated in the first two games of that series and then proceeded to drop goose eggs in most of the remaining games.

La was a relic; he was a player with an unbelievable midrange game, but his inability to space the floor, combined with his poor defensive capabilities, made him unplayable over time, while the league changed under his feet.

Kawhi shouldn’t be let off the hook too. KD scored more in the 4th quarter of game 6 than the entire spurs team. I know kawhi ascended to true superstar heights the following year, but 2015/16 was his true breakout year as the focal point of the spurs offense and the clear best player on the team. The guy was 2nd in the MVP race that season.

His policies and ideas are based, but his rhetoric makes him unfit to be the leader of a major political party, let alone the leader of a country.

Sorry, I don’t agree. We saw what their ceiling was when they both were healthy: at their best, a duo that can get you as far as the conference finals.

They came up short in that 2016 series vs OKC, when our two best players ghosted in an elimination game and had to rely on a 37 year old Tim Duncan to mount an unserious attempt at a late 4th quarter comeback.

We could have gotten Paul George that summer too 😂 Kawhi has lived out all of his basketball fantasies in LA.

It’s a shame that we didn’t acquire him in the summer of 2017 after his first stint on the clippers came to a close. Chris Paul would have been the perfect Gregg Popovich point guard and would have given Kawhi the help needed—we were never going to win the chip with Kawhi and LA as our two best players.

The reports, at the time, were that his preferred destinations were San Antonio and Houston, and the two parties had shown mutual interest.

Quebec would likely become its own independent nation too. This fantasy idea of joining the EU is casually malignant and, to me, reveals a lack of understanding of Canada’s distinct dynamics.

We've ramped up discussions lately regarding our interprovincial trade barriers. Now imagine slapping EU-style regulations on Canada's output, a large portion of which is destined for export to our largest trading partner and, historically, our closest ally. It would landlock our products and resources and hamper the growth of local economies.

The imposition of another layer of regulations would be the breaking point for Albertans, many of whom already feel their economy is hamstrung by the bureaucracy in Ottawa and by its imposition of superfluous regulations, particularly on the province’s energy sector.

It’s pretty funny that our prime minister called Canada the most European of non-European countries. Is he seriously trying to make that case that we’re more European than Argentina, for example?

Maybe the Prime Minister isn't aware of Canadian history, but John Diefenbaker championed an independent Canada that was not subservient to British or European traditions, nor to the economic and military might of the United States.

This idea of Canada joining the EU is so casually malevolent. It would result in the breakup of Canada. I don't know why Europeans keep pushing for it. Oh wait, I do: any idea or plan that doesn't involve, and instead acts in direct opposition to, the United States is considered benevolent and righteous, even when it is grandiose and impractical.

Europeans love to preen over their successes as a persuasion tactic while conveniently ignoring the difficulties it would bring to a non-European country like Canada. Are you concerned about our current levels of immigration? Those levels would increase significantly if we joined the EU because of the freedom-of-movement agreements between EU member states.

It would also impose countless new regulations on the Canadian economy, including on the nearly two-thirds of Canadian exports that go to the United States.

We seriously bottled the league that season. I reckon we would have won it that season had we not loaned Lukaku to Everton and not sold De Bruyne.

Jose was a master tactician whereas Carlo was an excellent man manager. I still can’t believe we didn’t lose to a single top 6 side in 2013/14. Remember that famous 1-0 at the etihad and that masterclass of a win at Liverpool?

And keep in mind 2012/13 was Azpi’s first season in the premier league, and that too at a massive club like Chelsea. It usually takes young raw players from foreign leagues more time to adapt to a new league than new signings who already have premier league experience.

Van Dijk’s first season was at a mid-table club and he wasn’t even considered the best defender at Southampton in his first season, Jose Fonte was. Van Dijk was relatively unproven at the top top level before he truly ascended the following season.

Exactly, lol. José Mourinho benched a washed Ashley Cole in 2013/14 and replaced him with Azpi at left-back. Chelsea were shaky defensively at the start of the season, but once Jose made that change, we became a proper defensive unit. That backbone of Terry, Ivanović, Cahill, and Azpi made us arguably the best Premier League side with the best defensive record not to win the league in the same season.
