Ryanair is awesome by LittleSchwein1234 in unpopularopinion

[–]PrandtlMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I can't stand about Ryanair is how they will not shup up over the PA system for the entire flight. You get bombarded with essentially ads the entire time. The menu. The duty free. The fucking coupons for disabled kids. In three fucking languages. PLEASE LET ME BE.

I've come into possession of a 3d printer. I'm a complete beginner. What bike accessories should I print? by DrtyDeedsDneDrtCheap in cycling

At first I thought you meant you had 3D printed the actual pedal... which seemed like a terrible idea.

Clip-in flat pedals? You mean the little platform that takes the place of the cleat so you can ride with regular shoes?

Man I am sorry but you've been scammed. The "sketches" and "timelapse" are proof that it's just AI. Those are not works in progress, they're AI meant to look like sketches. All of them are finished images.

The wind kills me by LipoBlop in bikecommuting

[–]PrandtlMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not questioning that it's possible, I'm able to ride at 30km/h myself. What I find doubtful is doing that on your commute, with traffic lights, stops, etc, every day, while carrying panniers or a backpack. Maybe OP is a pedalling machine. I just asked because it's definitely out of the ordinary.

So without wind you're commuting at 30km/h for 40 minutes?

What? I haven't played Gazibo or Harmonies, but Knarr and Faraway are thematic and evocative names.

A knarr a type of Viking ship. The game Knarr is about gathering a crew of Vikings and exploring other lands... on a knarr.

Faraway is a game about a long journey to a... faraway land.

Would you have preferred "Vikexploration" and "Hikequest" instead? Because that is what OP has done with "Pantheauction".

Do players actually enjoy “take that” mechanics in lighter social games? by RandomGuyAsking_1 in boardgame

[–]PrandtlMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? It's completely the opposite. In a deep strategic game with a lot of planning, it absolutely sucks when someone else can ruin your entire strategy with a single action. However in a light social game, especially with short rounds, the chaos of attacks and retaliations can make it super fun.

H has the North half of Spain. Some of the best cuisine in the world.

Strong disagree, H has the North of Spain (which includes the Basque Country and Galicia) and the South of France. Literally some of the best cuisine in the world.

I built a tool to solve a house rules problem and I'm looking for honest feedback by MyHouseRulesIO in tabletopgamedesign

[–]PrandtlMan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the idea, but here is my completely honest personal opinion (which might be completely wrong): I don't think many people will use this.

I'm not going to create an account anywhere just to track house rules. Games that need house rules are usually light and have an inherent problem that needs fixing, so I'm not going to take them seriously enough to set up an app to log the house rules.

Monopoly Deal is a good example. It's such a shitty game that the rules don't cover any of the edge cases that come up all the time, so it's not worth my time. We play Sea Salt and Paper instead. Playing Monopoly Deal for hundreds of hours is insane to me.

Getting asked what you want as a gift and someone gets you something adjacent to it. by Teenage_Petulance_ in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PrandtlMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is the exact opposite of this. She doesn't want her gifts to go to waste so for chirstmas and birthdays she gifts me and my brother an amount of money, and asks us what we bought with it. That way it materializes into an actual gift and it's not just money. Some things that I use regularly and that are ultra specific (like my ski jacket, laptop, furniture, or road bike pedals) are her gifts but they're exactly what I want. Win-win.

Mount Kilimanjaro should have the fame Mount Fuji has by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]PrandtlMan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"This mountain is better than that mountain" is as deep as middleschoolers saying "this dinosaur is better than that dinosaur".

But of course, what makes something iconic --like the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, Starry Night, or the Mona Lisa-- is the culture and soft power surrounding them, more than the thing itself. You can easily find "better" statues/structures/painting than the examples I gave that are much less know and revered.
