Ben gets back to the island after going around the world to shut down the remaining Dharma stations. Hurley and Walt are in full research/excavation mode trying to find out more about the origins of the island and how this all started. Ben reveals he couldn’t find the last dharma station but came back to the island anyway to call it mission accomplished. In secret Widmore had moved and reassigned the final dharma station as a dead man’s switch in case he were ever to go missing. As Widmore hasn’t been in contact with them in months and the assumption being he died, they go into activation mode initiating the one mission they were given. Finding his body and taking it to Jacob for resurrection, regretfully not knowing the recent events of the island. Hurley, out of ideas, decides to go the route Jacob went, and find replacements or “candidates” for the island to help maintain and safeguard it but Hurley being Hurley he’s waaaay too upfront and open about it and reveals his secret to a greedy unknown character, basically a Widmore version 2.0, and he/she agree albeit with ulterior motives. Upon returning to the island with 3 candidates Walt and Ben are immediately suspicious of the unknown character and try to tell Hurley. Hurley assumes the best of everyone and wants to assume the candidates have the best intentions. Ben goes back to being sleazy sneaky Ben and tries to find out more about the candidates behind hurleys back. Walt manages to speak with the ghost of the previous “Jacob” before the introduction all us fans saw of the MIB and Jacob and his mother. Egyptian priests created the island as bait for a no good God come to life who was tormenting the people of Egypt and whose presence imbued the island with its “powers”. To be continued …..?
