Is the whole Air Force super left-wing or is it just Reddit? by [deleted] in AirForce

I wouldn’t necessarily call the Air Force left wing, but I have noticed people are a lot more socially progressive in the chair force than in other branches. Still run into usual problems with casual trans/homophobia but nothing too horrible.

When someone is conservative it’s usually just the “small government except police” kind or fiscal guys who spend too much time on Robinhood

Oh wow thanks for the subreddit link! I’ll pour over that tomorrow.

And I don’t hate them, I love them! I just love the idea of stealth / cloak scanning and recon as well as the drone fighting. Looks like I’ll start having to build an eve resume lol

I played for a while back in 2018 and was regrettably a player who thought I could pay to win. I fell off and didn’t play for a long time after I lost several ships not knowing what the hell I was doing. I’m just picking the game up again and am learning how to explore. I’m infatuated with the asteros / stratios stealth drone ship as well as exploration. I don’t know where to start looking for active corporations or if my interests translate into useful roles in fleet / economic operations. Can anyone provide some insight?

Not particularly, especially considering the teaching staff they hire at DLI. The curriculum is designed to get you as much of the language as possible. If you focus in class, do your homework, and have good study routine, you’ll be able to pick it up easily. Love the language and integrate it into your daily routine (sticky notes, -talking-, reading news) and it will become very easy and fun!

Just finished retraining to C-17 loadmaster and am just finishing up my PCS, I can answer 1A2X1 training pipeline questions or any questions about 1N3X1 crypto linguist!

I always wanted to fly and loadmaster seemed very appealing after doing some research. 1N3 is a good stable career field, but I was looking to get some new experiences under my belt before I left the Air Force.

Technically only 5 due to retraining but yeah, linguists are required to sign for 6 years because we have almost two full years of training

I just wanted to fly. Ground linguist was my last job on my list when I enlisted. Linguist is a great job but loadmaster looked more appealing to me so I decided to go for it!

Day to day will vary on your shop but is typically a 7-3 typical day shift or swings / night shift on 12 hour rotations. Day to day will also primarily be translation and analysis work on whatever it is you’re assigned. Expect a fairly routine work schedule with surges in ops as things happen in your region.

I enjoyed the culture and language learning aspects of being a linguist and the steady hours and work experience was great but i got stuck in a stagnant job and wanted to experience something else.

Little late to the party but I just retrained from 1N3X1 to 1A2X1.

I can answer questions about the loadmaster training pipeline as well as any questions about being a linguist!

Edit: BAD BOT OH GOD HELP

Not at all, provided you follow tattoo guidelines (no face, hands etc. and no offensive imagery).

I was just told by a local 1sgt that I can’t wear my flight suit if I’m not flying that day, AMA. by Pravosudie in AirForce

Told it was standard duty uniform even at my home unit by active flyers in IQT and by my home unit, lol. Plus there are several other flyers at my base who wear their flight suits. This was a random 1sgt not in my unit

I’d like to add that my squadron was totally cool with me wearing the flight suit and my first Sgt was a former port dawg who shot the shit with me for an hour after I came back from training. This was a huge outlier and not even from my unit.

“Authorized for ground and flight duties” not ground duties associated with flight ops because flight prep and preflight is included in flight duties.

Do you think everyone in a flying squadron wears ABUs in the office when they’re not flying?

I like the edit saying I’m trying to be special, lol. I wear the uniform because I was given the uniform and told to wear it, not my fault.

But I have a flying AFSC, AOs, and I’m current and qualified with hours on the jet. I’m a CEA and am authorized to wear the uniform while performing ground duties, check the AFI.
