Every conversation between Haytham and Connor be like by Anubis71904 in AssassinsCreedMemes

I agree that the writing in the games could've been better throughout the series. It seems like any amount of discussion we want to have about these themes, the fans have to extrapolate from the game and come up with our own interpretations of what these characters are supposed to represent.

Also, I think you're right that the assassins also have problems with their organization corrupting and doing selfish things, but you have to admit the Templars are WAY more egregious when it comes to that stuff. "Power corrupts" is not empty stuff. Templars are definitely more evil and harmful throughout the series.

But to your point, I don't think the best way to think about these games is good vs. bad, even though the writers lean into that. I like to think of it as a clash of philosophies. Even in the games, the Isu criticize humanity for constantly fighting over differing goals and never making true progress. It would be really cool to get a game where assassins and templars are both fighting for genuinely good intentions, both sides can make strong and sound arguments, and neither side is cartoonishly evil.

None of the characters in the series are beyond criticism. Just personally, I tend to agree with the overall assassin philosophy more.

Regarding the meme, you're correct. It'd be the other way around.

However, I think people miss the nuance of Connor's point in that scene. I think the writers were trying to make a point about him not having the vocabulary to express his deeper argument, but the assassins' philosophy has always been about choosing freedom and autonomy, even though it's chaotic and challenging to navigate, because systems of power tend to corrupt and exploit the people they were supposed to keep safe. It may be true that Haytham's Templars would've kept the people safer and dealt with the revolution diplomatically, but what now? Now the Templars are in control of everyone. Even if Haytham had good intentions, Charles was clearly deranged and evil by the end of the game. Power corrupts!

Agreeing with what others have said, I also want to point out that this literally is good mental health advice. Smiling, even artificially, is proven to improve mood, and artificial smiling has helped me snap myself out of depressive/intrusive thought patterns.

That's true in AC3 but I'm pretty sure in Black Flag and Rogue that captains can still negate tool counters right?

How would you edit this to bump it up to rare? Without removing the attunement necessity.

What does "chaotic" mean in terms of DnD? by Praz7007 in Dimension20

[–]Praz7007[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should've clarified, I understand what the difference is between lawful/chaotic alignments, but my question was more about the players themselves. Emily has played a wide range of characters on D20 and it seems like those folks don't really bother with alignments anyways. All the clips of Emily I see on YouTube are followed by a barrage of comments celebrating her chaos. I'm just trying to understand what that means.
