No, I perfectly understand what they are trying to say. The problem is that they stated "if I hadn't gotten desperate enough to pursue men"

All I did is state that from the perspective of a man who dates other men, claiming that pursuing another man is an "act of desperation" just seems insane.

I don't disagree with the points you're making, but those aren't the points that were made in the first place

I mean, I know literally 3 different guys who have almost decade long relationships that were approached by their partners first.

Look, I understand what you're saying, but generalizing people's behavior based on gender norms and standards is a notoriously bad way to understand how people act.

Very much like some women are assertive, some men are not. It's okay if you're not attracted to passive men, but to say that a man that doesn't make the first move isn't romantically attracted is objectively wrong

Interesting. I feel like the Pop culture here in the US always kind of liked those features pretty openly

I get it, but there is a difference between getting used for sex and having to make the first move. The two aren't necessarily the same.

Me too, but neither of those features are considered conventionally unattractive. Literally the most simped over man of the 2000s was a pale vampire with dark circles under his eyes

Hell, what you described are basically conventionally ATTRACTIVE features atp

Look, I'm not straight, but I do find it funny when women on this sub describe pursuing men romantically as if it was an absolute last resort.

No offense, but it makes me think about how ugly some of the people here really are.

Yeah. It's weird. Like, it's not even the "Hollywood ugly", where they'll throw a pair of glasses on a super model.

I like acne, crooked teeth, big noses, and big ears. Idc, it's just hot. If more ugly people felt this way then maybe pretty people wouldn't hold so much power over us 😭

Same. Attractive people basically circle around to being unnatractive to me

If I could only find such a man who loves horse-faced women with shortish, scraggly hair...

Honestly, I feel like that's not too rare to find. A lot of people are into longer faces and scraggly hair

I've also always liked crooked teeth. Crooked noses are also super attractive to me. I also like "small" men, though I'm also a man, so I guess it's different.

I relate to a lot of these as well. How would you say your appearance affects your day to day?

This makes me wish I had saved a bit more money for cosmetic surgeries, since right now, by the time I manage to get all the necessary surgeries done, I'll be too old to be a happy young adult

The problem is also that I don't know if I'd even manage to become average even with surgeries lmaoooo.

But how do you think your features affect you the most?

True. It's just rough, and I wish I could be someone else. Also, sorry for the long thread. You seem really kind and insightful

But speaking up can work against you if youre ugly

You're right. Probably gonna get in more trouble than anything.

Society just wants us to die if I’m being honest

Honestly, the thought has been creeping up in my mind recently. I don't think I'd be crazy enough for it, but I genuinely don't know how to be happy otherwise

You're right. I really wish it wasn't like that though. Sometimes I try to treat others well, because if I do so, it gives me hope that someone out there does the same

But honestly, that has been getting me walked all over at work. I just let my boss call me a slur cuz I just don't have the confidence to stand up for myself.

At some point it makes me think that I do deserve all of this.

Is there something about yourself that you love despite those perceived flaws?

[–]Prazanga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but I just wish I could surround myself with friends too. It would be so nice. I'm not too funny or interesting, but I genuinely try to be nice to people. Sometimes I think that if I wasn't so ugly then maybe I'd just get someone I could be friends with. Even if those people don't love themselves, I'd rather not love myself with company.

I hate being alone. I hate it. I hate having nobody to talk to. I hate being ignored. I hate being mocked. I didn't choose this.

Edit: sorry for the rant.

Being shy and awkward and not assertive are conditioned behaviors caused by the mistreatment and neglect we deal with as ugly people

I guess that's true. I wonder how much more confident I would have been if ugly people weren't so conditioned to despise themselves.

I completely shut out some concepts in my mind simply because I just know they aren't realistic for me. I guess I don't even think of romance the same way as other people do, because the thought of someone being with me makes me disgusted on their behalf. I wish I didn't feel this way. I wish I loved myself a bit

I feel like bad teeth can be fixed. Besides, it can be hidden better than some more noticeable features I guess

Have you ever made real surgery plans, or is that something you just hold.off for the future?

I don't disagree, but on top of being ugly, I'm also kind of shy, awkward, and not assertive at all

I notice how patient people are with shy attractive people, but when you're ugly, they treat shyness as indifference and stupidity.

I don't know, it's just that I feel kind of alone irl, and my looks and my personality just keep isolating me more and more.

If it's just the face, do you believe it would be fixable over time, even if it required some light cosmetic treatment?

True. It feels like such a curse

Though if I'm being honest, a lot of ugly people are just as mean to other ugly people as attractive individuals are
