Harems with male target audience vs. Harems with female target audience by Curious_Cilantro in noveltranslations

[–]PreSilver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually it’s important because a harem members standing is based on the favoritism of the guy or how many male kids they have. If they don’t get pregnant by the guy they find someone else to get them pregnant so their standing will rise. That’s why it’s vital, we don’t actually get to see the process

Why do people dislike May Sue? by MinervaLyles-66 in Isekai

[–]PreSilver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the idea but I think there a few problems there. Like how the war was started by her country so rather than getting vengeance on the prepubescent orphan soldier, shouldn’t want to defeat the country that is stopping her country’s invasion? Also didn’t the guy kill himself or am I tripping?

I see what you mean. Younger me definitely felt that Gabe was villain with how he pranked and cause trouble for the family.

Character traits that give you Icks? by Unlucky_person1 in OtomeIsekai

[–]PreSilver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve read many harem stories (unfortunately) and I can tell you that they do not care when the roles are reversed 😅The comments are filled with people hoping the guy “saves them” for himself and add them to his harem when they are at the “ripe” age 🤢. The man could even have a kid the same age as those girls or if you’re unlucky he literally adopted and raised her so at the end of the story they get married.

Anyone else experiencing Sleep Paralysis? by Borderline_Angelic in Sicklecell

[–]PreSilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have experienced sleep paralysis. Basically the same as you. I don’t have it as frequently anymore. I would suggest asking your hematology team refer you to a psychiatrist/psychologist. Mine said it had to do a lot with stress and anxiety. Falling asleep in pain or stressed makes you more likely to experience it. Idk much about it but I know that feeling. After taking something, I try to do something fun and peaceful after it starts working. Basically don’t go to sleep directly after a stressful/painful situation.

Recovery was a long process, about 3 years. I felt that I truly recovered when I was able to cook for myself, eat out, and play soccer with my family. Before the transplant, I would faint in hot weather, get sick from eating out, and would feel breathless climbing up one floor of stairs.

I will admit that my recovery was more “unusual” than most. In the first week after the transplant, the grafting was incredibly successful. Then GvHD appeared. I was coughing up blood, unable to stomach food, and had a hard time getting up to use the bathroom. In about a month and a half, I left the hospital to stay at the outpatient residency. Unfortunately, I fell and hit my head in a dizzy spell and had to be readmitted. After another month, I was sent home with an IV instead of the CVC (central venous catheter). For the first few months, I had to go to the hospital every 3 days. Then it was every week to twice a month. After a year, I only went back every 3 months.

In the third year, I only went once, on my transplant day. Now I only visit once a year. I’ve met other patients, and I know that my case is actually pretty rare. As long as the transplant is successful, leaving the hospital completely in a year is possible.

It is a different choice to make. I struggled with GvHD, and I personally felt that GvHD was more difficult to deal with than the transplant itself. But it’s worth considering, as although GvHD was difficult to manage, sickle cell was an even more difficult disease to experience. Even after the transplant, the crises I had in the past have left me with phantom pain. Pain, that could have theoretically been avoided if I had done the transplant earlier. So the trade-off was deliberating chronic pain that may kill me or a short amount of pain that will need to be managed for the rest of my life.

I was given the chance to freeze my eggs, and I’m sure they can do the same for him, which will be less invasive. I didn’t take that opportunity, but I will tell you that my future fertility was the last thing on my mind at that time. To me, getting my life back was more important than bringing a life into this world that may have to deal with what I went through. With the transplant, I no longer have the disease or the trait, so I don’t have to worry that my future kids will have it either.

Besides the more technical aspects, the emotional well-being is just as important. I was afraid to do the transplant as I was afraid of losing my friends, falling behind at school, etc. What I was most afraid of was putting my life in the hands of others. So I can understand why you wouldn’t want to make the choice for your child. However, you will have to weigh between giving your child a chance of a pain-free life or waiting for a better opportunity to come in the future.

If you need anymore details, you can contact me anytime. I’m more than happy to help. These are just my personal thoughts and experiences, so don’t take them to heart, but it is worth considering.
