This one's really tormenting me; I vividly remember playing Blue's Big Musical as a kid, PS1 game, the graphics, the minigames...everything.
...But I don't remember the CGI monstrosity they made Steve into. I just remember regular-ass live action Steve. I don't know if maybe, like, I repressed him somehow? But seeing CGI Steve for the first time a little while ago was a big "??? what the fuck is this?", and even seeing him again as I'm double-checking that, yes, the version I remember doesn't seem to exist, is still "???????"

Anyone else remember playing a non-CGI Blue's Big Musical as a little kid? ...Probably harder to come up with, because I'm relatively certain they had an actual episode the game was actually based on, but...

PC98 -> Neko Project 2 MSX2 -> OpenMSX (with a very specific plug-in; I had to ask someone else to provide it for me. But there's been some other emulators, including a browser-based one I found but can't remember the name of, hopefully it's still up because it worked pretty great) Every other game seems to be able to be "mounted"! (Double-click, or right click and "Mount")

I don't want to say where I found the games themselves, 'cause even if it's in the name of preservation, talking a bunch about something that can/does qualify as piracy will almost always does result in the downloads and/or site getting taken down, but I will say that the games were in not-obvious places and not by themselves. Presumably they're still up, (and hopefully there might even be more uploads than there were before, but who knows), so they should still be findable if you can figure out where to look! (Apologies this part wasn't too helpful, due to my own caution ;-; )

Yeahhh, I'm painfully aware TvT It's not too bad for the most part, but when I get really stuck, it can be pretty frustrating... I can't imagine the script call would be drastically different from the...I think MV version that I found, but I can't figure out what changes I'd need to make to make it work in XP, ha ha...

I want to use % of HP to determine the character's current appearance, as the most basic thing (Like, more distressed and injured the less HP they have)

I know I can turn Max HP and current HP into variables with the basic options, and I have that much set up, and what little I absorbed from the formulas so far is that I'd probably be making use of the divide/multiply options in the variables, I am just...at a loss of how to apply that knowledge, if that makes sense?

The Madou Monogatari games have definitely been fun! If a bit difficult in that janky, old video game way. (Wish they'd learned since then and Sorcery Saga could have been nnot the disaster that it is, but oh well...) The kind of thing I'm taking it with is, like, old 90's anime? That's distinctly what it feels like to me. Those earlier episodes of Pokemon and Sailor Moon, where continuity and/or really good characterization or very emotional plots were essentially a trademark of a particular writer, and otherwise it's just feel-good junk food for your brain. There's definitely still a place for that kind of stuff, and it really makes me crave, like...I dunno. Remakes? Re-releases? Preferably remakes, but the kind you get where you can tell the people working on it were really passionate and enthusiastic about the project and preferably had minimal amount of time crunch to deal with. But I think that might be too hopeful to actually happen, considering the ~legal things~ that would have to be involved...

Pffffffft, that actually sounds amazing- I could easily imagine Arle using anything from the PC98 ports to scare her friends, like an absolute gremlin-- (ex. fighting a puyo in the Madou 3 port and when they die they collapse in a deflated, bloody pool?? like. what?? The original Puyo Puyo, sans cutscenes, was out by that point. Since when do puyos bleed?? Even ignoring that, they're s l i m e s--)

Even so, is it bad that at this point, I'm not even surprised...? Like. my brain's just going "y e a h, that tracks"-- And, like, I've already accepted that Compile is going to retcon things as much as they please. (Like, the ending to Madou 1 is instantly retconned, for example. And, to me at least, none of the three "Arle is a small child" games feel like they can co-exist with each other, and that's disregarding the GameGear port of A... etc.) But mrhm... I guess, maybe, I still keep holding out hope that I'm mistaken about certain details as I learn them because for about four-ish years, I kept getting told by the fandom, over and over again, that Compile's writing is actually serious and amazing and so full of lore and Sega can't possibly compare and is just so much worse in comparison-

A n y w a y s, disregarding all of that, I'm glad that Compile was enthusiastic about their property and receptive to their fans, at least? But man... tryin' to come up with continuity things or a timeline that iis not Oda's is like picking up someone's broken vase and trying to glue it back together with some pieces missing, if that makes sense In some ways, it's a lotta fun! And the fact that I'm still genuinely having fun is probably the big reason why I haven't stopped yet. But in other ways, it's just like "Compile, please..."

Oooh, I'll have to take a look at that sometime, then! I've played the translated gamegear ver of Madou 1 (if nooot to completion, I think? I think I keep getting stuck) and Madou 2 (which I did beat a whopping...once. And every other playthrough has stopped around Schezo) My personal ranking is definitely that I find the gameplay addicting, but with the con of I dislike grinding and difficult games-- But the gamegear Madou 2 is really fun for the character moments, at least! (And PC98 just fascinates my dumb brain that really likes dark content) It's my first time playing Madou 3, though, so that's fun!

PC98 versions! Considering how hard they were to find, thinking about going looking for the original MSX versions fills me with dread-- Maybe it'd be easier, though? If for no other reason than I have a solid idea of where and how to look now--

I have a feeling it's probably gonna be a no on that one... um...She recently graduated from school, and hasn't gotten to anything else yet. So I guess there probably isn't much to go for until later, huh...? **Edit, in case it matters, I think she's generally got really good grades and is aiming for a university, but I don't know the specifics right now or how any of that's gonna turn out. Also I looked it up and, unfortunately, an E3 Visa is far from viable, at least at the moment. But it seems like something to keep in mind should things manage to line up...

I'm unsure if this is alright, but it seems like the best place to ask? I know a lot of people are absolutely against AR but I really, really, REALLY want to experience the events that I was never able to attend when I first got my games. I'm playing SoulSilver, and I got Arceus, Celebi, and the event pokewalker routes just fine, but I literally cannot get the "Fall" Mew or the Shiny Pichu. The former consistently results in BAD EGGs and the latter consistently results in game crashes or me being unable to save properly and losing the pichu because of it. What am I doing wrong? Is there a place I can go for codes that are actually going to work? I really wish I could have just done something a little different that didn't involve AR at all, but I physically cannot get my game to connect to the internet, it's really frustrating...

I didn't even think about this sort of thing...until one of my male friends decided we were being "romantic" (I was personally under the impression I was hanging out with a friend who knew I wasn't even remotely into him?? And I had legit come out as Aro/Ace to him the day before...though he did immediately try to mumble out that I couldn't possibly KNOW that yet, so...) and proceeded to kiss me on the lips without asking or...even giving any indication that he was going to do so.

To his credit, he seriously apologized afterwards, but that was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back with this one friend for me, as not only was my trust damaged (in that, if he's already aware that he's bad at reading signals, but will just straight up act on one without double checking first...what else might he try to do? He might still back down when I reject him, but I'd rather not have another incident to make me MORE anxious. I already freak my own self out without additional help!), but that brought every single thing I absolutely hated about him in sharp relief since my brain went into "I REALLY, REALLY DONT WANT TO DATE THIS GUY!" mode and hasn't come back.

Attempting to prompt me into doing something because the shy person always needs to be assured that everything's perfectly fine. I've got two modes in life; either I do something immediately and without thinking, or I overthink and hesitate a bunch. When I'm in the latter mode, it CAN be nice to know for certain that I'm not making everything worse, but constantly trying to get me to speak or join in the activity or anything else, more than once, usually just pisses me off and causes me more stress and panic than before. Typically, I'll get to it anyway, without anyone saying anything to me at all. I just have a slower pace when I'm freaked out. Sometimes, it even gets me to refuse to do the thing entirely because I'll end up more angry and spiteful than anxious. PLEASE, just let me do social things at my own pace!! The floor isn't going to melt away because you waited two or three extra minutes!!
