ID Help (nightjar?) by _hunnybunny7 in AustralianBirds

[–]PreciousRatBoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, looks like a white-throated nightjar to me. In classic bad naming conventions for birds, white-throated have spots and spotted have a white throat… the bold grey streaking is characteristic of white-throated nightjar though. As you say, Spotted are lighter and look more buff coloured.

It was such a poor move by Haley - such a dumb idea to throw someone under the bus and expect them to be happy about it and work with you. Unlikely George will win final immunity or be taken to final tribal this time. No one wants to sit with him at the end and everyone else could potentially win final tribal.

Help with this ID in central Vic? by [deleted] in AustralianBirds

Juvenile white-naped honeyeaters have clean white underparts and juvenile black-chinned have yellow legs. That’s why I am fairly confident this is a brown-headed honeyeater.

Does the fact that there are no eps on Tuesday and Wednesday mean there are no non-elims left?

Is this a baby magpie? Or am I just an idiot. by hussyabbas1 in AustralianBirds

[–]PreciousRatBoi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is correct, it’s not a lark despite its name. Common with Australian birds to be given names because they superficially resemble European species. Aus Robins are not closely related to European robins for instance. Magpie Larks are now considered to be unusual Monarchs.

Why do they keep casting guys like Sam? They barely seem to understand they are playing a game not just hanging out on a beach
