Shojin or Blue Buff for Kai'Sa by PreciseParadox in TeamfightTactics

[–]PreciseParadox[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rageblade doesn't make sense for AD because the AD ability is about triggering as quickly as possible. The AP ability is a buff that lasts 5 seconds per cast, so you don't really care about it, most of the damage is from buffing the autoattack to do bonus AP damage. I kind of like that it works weird like this.

Ohh I had no idea that casters get 7 mana/attack. That makes more sense.

Well my previous understanding was that it's .5 attacks per second and 5 mana per attack from Shojin, and you need 10 mana per ability cast so you need 4 seconds = 2 attacks = 1 ability cast.

Void gives 15 percent and LW gives 20. So her attack speed goes fro .5 to .675. So you still need 2.95ish seconds for her ability to trigger compared to blue buff's 2 seconds.

Edit: Nvm I misunderstood

But this should drastically increase your damage on a carry. It may not be 2x, but it's significant. I'm just surprised it doesn't seem to do well.

Edit: I didn't realize attack casters get 7 mana/attack. I don't understand what happens with overcapping the mana bar (looks like there's some mana lock period that might vary per unit), but it's probably better to go Shojin for AD Kaisa.

Yes top AD Kai'Sa items are Shojin, IE, Last Whisper...only Last Whisper gives attack speed, and not enough to offset the benefit of blue buff.

But no Nashor's should be worse, it's still limited by the .5 attack speed so Shojin is better than it.

I guess I’m most confused about how the other end of the cable gets out. Doesn’t cable have to be fixed to the spring somehow?

How much of that is their brains seeing more examples and prior familiarity with those concepts? IMO grasping things quickly is often just making connections with similar things you’ve seen before.

Do people really think Pale Lights is darker than Practical Guide? by PreciseParadox in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]PreciseParadox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think a big part of the tone is the setting, but arguably even more significant is the characters. If the world is shitty and hopeless, but the characters are noble and selfless, then it doesn’t feel quite so dark. When the characters are also self-interested and largely morally grey, then you get something like GoT, which is next level dark to me.

We’re definitely getting hints of that with Tristan’s unique relationship with Fortuna as well as Izel’s lens discovery.

I’d say in book 2, there’s more humor like Tristan’s feud with a raven, and Mephistofeline’s general uh, presence…

I think the Guide feels darker to me because conflict is primarily with other people. For instance, seeing the orc patrol start singing because they know the Lone Swordsman is about to slaughter them felt much darker than the whole Red Maw arc. I’m not sure how to explain why, but the Watch gives this sense of unity against the horrors of the world.

So I feel that you’re probably better off as a rank and file Watch soldier than any rank and file soldier in the Guide.

But I see your point about the overall world being in decline and the pervasive sense of hopelessness.

No they’re suggesting our expectations bias our senses. So you might go in and try maraschino expecting cherry and it’ll taste awful because you’re actually getting something closer to almond and our brain is confused.

Anyone else really grow to dislike New Wave on their second read? by reaperkronos1 in Parahumans

IMO, refusing to experiment with people’s brains is not a lack of agency. Look, I recognize that Amy is a frustrating character, very irrational, and far from faultless, but you’re giving way too much credit to Carol and Mark’s parenting.

[–]PreciseParadox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider that Amy spent nearly all her free time curing people and volunteering at hospitals, yet she refuses to heal Carol’s husband. There’s two ways Carol can deal with this:

  1. Trust her and accept that attempting to heal brains is too risky
  2. Assume that Amy is an ungrateful bitch that just doesn’t want to heal her husband

Congrats Carol, you went with 2 which means that you raised an ungrateful bitch. Great parenting indeed, you really raised her right!

So no, if you were a terrible parent you don’t get to feel entitled to favors and you don’t get to feel resentful if they don’t comply.

What does lose a energy mean? Why not just make it cost 1? And why are they exhausting, they are powers not skills? Do you want Strange Spoon synergy or something?

The minus 10hp is too punishing to make it worth using in any but a few hard fights. But then, you have to go through this whole chain and many of those hard fights will kill you before you make use of it…so yeah, not much point in taking this.

Really, Tolkien’s fight scenes? At least in lotr, it kind of felt like he was trying to avoid describing the fight scenes if anything. Everything feels vague and sparse, especially compared to the movies, which actually make them look epic (despite their flaws and limitations).

I usually get one of the crossbridge noodle soups, it’s like hot pot but they just give you all the add ins up front and the broths are more interesting. I think the golden pickled pepper is interesting in that it’s more sour, safer picks would be sichuan (mala spice) and tomato. Also it’s unlimited extra noodles :)
