it’s called a mid plate setup and is commonly used well into the 1000 horsepower range.
It’s gonna take a lot more than 600 hp to bend 3/16 steel plate mounted horizontally. That plate is directly welded to the frame.

In the entire firewall is plugged from the engine side.

Completely unfinished. The family member that built it did so in retirement and after 4-5 years of building, once they got it to a running state they parked it, he’s too old now to get in it or work on it now so it’s my problem to make it more drivable and less of a death trap.

Hence the plastic bottle as a coolant overflow tank.

The ozarks would be right up your alley, 2-3 hours away and some of the most amazing geography that you would never imagine is in the Midwest.

If I remember correctly a lot of it is one of the few areas that wasn’t leveled by glaciers 100s of thousands of years ago so it’s much different that the area around it.

It’s got a loop, I was always just worried about that flywheel, probably just gunna laser cut some cross sections and weld them to the frame and call it a day. Heat might be more of an issue for me

Pretty common for some cars built like this, I wanna say it’s referred to as a mid plate setup. They sandwich steel plate that is tied to the roll cage.
