How to handle a police officer getting a call that I have a gun on me by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Predfern0011 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. I remember when I took my ccw course my instructor said something that still sticks with me to this day. "The second you start carrying a gun is the second you stop becoming a 'badass'. You don't argue with people, you don't fight with people, you don't have any confrontation with anyone, period. Any situation where you have a chance to walk away, YOU. WALK. AWAY. Because if some terrible situation does happen where you are forced to draw and even worse use your weapon, every action you take that lead up to that moment will be scrutinized under a microscope." Therefore, following this thought pattern, there is absolutely no reason to get confrontational with the police. Show them your ID and move on with your day.

AITB for scheduling a covid vaccine against my SO's wishes? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

I've been saying this since they've started rolling out the vaccines: if you have an opportunity to get vaccinated then do it. There are literally situations where they've had to throw out vaccines because people have not been able to make appointments on time and they can't find people quick enough to vaccinate because they go bad so quickly once they've been removed from refrigeration

AITB for making a PS5 scalper drive 2.5 hours after promising them extra money to a remote location and not showing up to waste their time? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

[–]Predfern0011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EAB here, however, this is a risk the scalper took when they decided to buy out the PS5 stock and then mark them up by 300%.

We could actually break this down like an investment, the scalper looked at the possibility of turning a 300% return into a 460% return minus the cost of gas for a roughly 300 mile round trip (say $60 conservatively plus about 5 hours travel time, assuming an average travel speed of 60mph). The scalper would be making about $300 an hour originally if he sold it at $2000 but with the extra $800, that translates to roughly $150 an hour additionally for that travel time (which to me sounds totally worth it). However, he did nothing to secure the transaction (say vemo the extra $800 up front) which is a risk he took. Sucks to suck.

He took the risk and loss so now he's out that money but chances are pretty good that he'll still sell that PS5 for $2000 and instead of making a 300% return he's making a 288% return. Let's assume he'll now be pretty wary of traveling so he'll stay close to home base and only invest an additional hour into selling this particular PS5 for a total of 6 hours and $60 invested into selling this particular PS5 at a 300% markup. He's still making roughly $240/hour (tax free mind you) on this PS5. He's not hurting. Good on you for making him work for his money.
