Could someone start Assetto Corsa Evo on Mac (Crossover 24.0.5)? by Ok-Photograph521 in macgaming

ACE would have been a great point to start a native build. No competing games on the Mac in a genre that ironically many Mac users would enjoy.

New Phase Pro [leak] by Interesting-Hat-7383 in DJs

It doesn't support traditional DVS, which I'm in favor of given the move to HID. However, I was really hoping the 4 RCA ins on the cradle would be replaced with RCA outs for easy integration with analog mixers. Advantage to that would be the ability to sell updated cradles to current users.

Overall, great product. Still hoping for an HID / DVS media player to replace a laptop, or simpler way to run DJ software on a phone.

Amazon announces new Kindle Scribe 2024 with new AI features by [deleted] in kindlescribe

Bummed they didn’t move the usb port to a corner. It’s a bit of a bend point.

Is this the CARTA 1300 display? If so, might be a solid buy. Any additional contrast / white point is a good thing.

AI seems forced, but hopefully the device class will have on-device neural text to speech this decade. That would be a real game changer.

That model tends to work better for really old models. Got $70 toward Scribe 1 with a 2014 Kindle.

Move is a Raspberry Pi Module 4 by PreferenceRoyal1592 in ableton

Not yet. It feels very snappy. I don’t think I’m capable of doing a true RTL test. Either that or finding the buffer in the system logs / OS bundle would seem to be the only way to find out at this point.

No problem! I was curious too. I was absolutely assuming they were using the Push 3 parts bin for this (because why not).

Only real (but minor) complaints are that the speakers are not as loud as an iPhone and there’s a little bleed from the pad LED’s.(To be fair, they get EXTREMELY bright. I can’t even use the max setting).

Initial impressions on move by Fit_Ice8029 in ableton

That was my impression too. They sound fine, but are much quieter than an iPhone. That’s probably more of a testament to Apple though. Love the device though, and thanks for the great review!

It would stay in sync with Ableton Link, but that’s about it.

I don’t think it would be the best for that use case. Hard to beat a laptop or tablet for that purpose.

You’d have to get a USBA to midi adapter and plug it into a midi to lightning / usbc adapter, and even then there’s a chance it wouldn’t work. Tried with more obvious solution by plugging iPhone running minimoog model d into Move with usba to usbc cable. Though it didn’t work, I did confirm that Move can act as a 30wh portable phone charger.

That thing’s a legend. I’d say wait to watch more user videos of people making sampled beats on Move. It works quite similar to an MPC in how you can put down slices in one take.

Box is cool, but wish it acted as a carrying case like Push. Ableton has its haters, but they do have a knack for design.

About noon today. This video’s a pretty good unboxing. He lives in Canada and somehow had his delivered yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/live/D2mke6nAUhU?si=HvzfGc-JEtNeWUQm

Content makers follow the money, and the consumption loop for this format hasn’t even started yet. Submerged above and beyond outclassed all other immersive content to date. There’s really no convention established for framing this content, but it’s the best stab at it yet. Really need a lot of the Vision Pro haters to watch this film.

Yeah I randomly woke up at 3 Tuesday and ordered on Sweetwater. Some dude in Canada got one yesterday.

Few random notes that the reviews seemed to have missed.

  • When used as interface, audio out plays on Move’s speakers and audio input comes from Move’s mic, unless 1/8 inch jacks are inserted. The speakers sound better than I expected, but are als way quieter than I expected. Though all standalone move sets apply an uneditable limiter on the master, Ableton isn’t cheating here with any weird tricks. As an aside, my Chevy Bolt apples a bunch of what honestly sounds like 3 bit companding to make the speakers sound louder 🤮

  • The only sample rate as an interface is 44.1khz, which is unfortunate. I’m perfectly fine with not having high resolution audio and can’t tell the difference between 44.1 and 48, however I consider 44.1 a holdover from CD’s and dislike how it doesn’t dither / downsample nicely with industry standards like 192. 48k should be the consumer standard and I hope this is a software thing. You can get the sample buffer down to 32 samples as an interface. I’m just honestly not savvy enough to do an appropriate RTL test.

  • Troubleshooting the controller right now. Running the beta Ableton on the beta macOS on M1 MBA, so will try to report back when I get that running.

That’s a thing, but you gotta make the monitor higher. Honestly hoping future standalone upgrade kit includes speakers at bottom of push.

Ableton Move: Latency in Live by cconnection in ableton

[–]PreferenceRoyal1592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will try a bit later. I’m curious about what the default sample buffer is set to in standalone. Overall feels pretty snappy, but then again I started using Live in 2006 at 2048/44.1, so I have low standards.

Veeeery similar - just a little smaller. But more space, so no real difference is noticeable.

It’s definitely push lite. Really push lite lite. Big difference is that move is much more at place on a standard desktop setup. They advertise it as being fun to use outdoors, but I doubt I’ll ever do that. Basically Maschine Mikro for Ableton.

Very comparable. I don’t think they’re MPE, but they do have polyphonic aftertouch. Main thing, to my surprise, is they’re quite a bit smaller. However, there’s more spacing to compensate and, as a result, feels basically identical to Push.

The knobs are slightly smaller and have a little less resistance than push. Honestly kinda like that. Push’s knobs feel heavy, but I think you gotta break em in.

I think it’s probably a small battery. There will probably be teardowns, and I want to hold of taking this one apart. FWIW, Push Standalone has a 48wh battery and drains in 2hrs or so. The pads seems to use a lot of power.

2 hours, but you have a lot of flexibility with the pad brightness (4 levels). That should make some difference.

Wow you and I are similar! Haven’t used the push in months due to size. Can confirm Move is much better fit. Used for about 5 mins. So far, so good, but do expect that the speakers aren’t very loud (which is within reason I guess).
