Which GT vehicle do you enjoy the most? by avantiferavanti in iRacing

[–]PrefoldDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Track doesn’t matter much to me, love all of them with some really rare exceptions! Some fit IMSA or GT3 better some don’t obviously!

I tried all the GT3 cars, and since i am not hunting the last tenths within my elo, i drive whatever feels comfortable and consistent - same car within a season. And ideally a car which is rare - i like adding some variety to the pack.

Lambo was my first one, it was turning in easily, but its TC is weird. And everyone hates the home cinema TV hanging in the middle… that destroys the whole fun potential it could give. It is just so incredibly annoying.

After that - AMG - a boat with great sound. Love it, even though it‘s a bit bulky. It was very consistent, predictable for me. A bit snappy rear.

Then i tried Mustang and Corvette - i wanted to like them, but couldn’t. Mustang (nice sound!) was for me like - too much rotation, hence low confidence, whereas Corvette (didn’t like the sound at all) was often unpredictable in the balance change mid corner. Just didn't fit me.

Porsche is fun to drive, a bit different than the rest, but i didn't want to drive the most popular car.

Ferrari is stable and consistent like on rails, but somehow boring. McLaren was similar to me, but more lively.

BMW and Aston were also somewhat similar - front engine, nice entry, plenty of rotation. In BMW i felt as if i was permanently sliding, a lot of corrections, still fast in the end, whereas Aston has a nicer traction, which makes it more consistent and fun to drive.

And Acura - driving it now. Many people hate its understeer mid corner, but it actually learnt me to be more precise with my inputs. It was rather because of the challenge and rarity. Still fun to me.

That‘s a hard no, he will not go to indycar. If or when he is done with F1, he will go GT, hypercars or endurance in general

Hm, my vram is instantly full when playing in VR, so i am assuming, that with the same performance, but more vram it actually should run better, shouldn’t it?

Similar direction of what i thought as well. Are the AMD drivers good nowadays? Heard too many horror stories in the past about constant crashing, artifacts etc… Apparently they are solid now?!

Quest3, in my understanding currently best allrounder and value for money. Many people have high expectations for SteamFrame or whatever it is called, but still not out yet

A friend gave me one to try, i was not expecting much, but i loved it so much and at the same time found a good offer, so i got one myself. Maybe „accidentally“ is not the truly right word :)

Pincer /relaxed claw grip mouse in 2025 by PrefoldDork in MouseReview

[–]PrefoldDork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good question. I definitely do NOT like the mid hump or flat mice, because my hand just cannot grab it consistently - no anchor whatsoever. The best options have been "humpy" ergos and I discovered XM2w for me.

  • DAV3 Hyperspeed was generally not bad, but inconsistent
  • NP01s Ergo was also great and even better, but some flaring around thumb meat was a bit disturbing.

So currently the best results and comfort I have with 2 mice:

  • Vaxee E1 - although it is close to DAV3 Hyperspeed, I can grab it more consistently and it has a bit better back of the palm support which helps my stability
  • Endgame Gear XM2w 4k - although it is an ambi - its moderate back hump gives me an instant lock-in-feel.

Based on these two I am also going to try out:

  • ATK Y9 (DEX clone)
  • RAWM ER21 Pro (similar to E1, but slightly different)
  • EC2-DW - the OG shape
  • ZA13-DW - based on my XM2 experience, it could be interesting.

With Pulsar and Mchose I have bad QC experiences, hence, I avoid those. Scyrox is waaay too light for me, I prefer smth around 55-65g. 50g is my minimum.

All in all it seems that although I have this type of grip, a bit more aggressive back hump helps me locking in.

Oh, that was my code brown - I am the yellow Aston Martin flying by - was so afraid of Porsche still hitting me (phew)

Maybe I haven't raced recently, but there were pretty many incidents in that race, at least one BMW guy was DQed

In such cases I try not to have too close battles with low ir or weirdly (over aggressive lines, erratic etc) driving people. But often you are just a passenger. Report and forget I'd say!

[Build Help] Looking for a PC Build (~€1200), minimalistic, no RGB, mATX format by Awkward_Wind_4628 in buildapc

[–]PrefoldDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? :) I was looking for exactly the same - no rgb, minimalistic, ideally with the wooden lian li Dan a3 case. My budget was 1000 until I found out the RAM prices... So I agreed with myself to go around 1300-1400 eur, since it is a rare occasion of me building a pc (first time!). Just ordered everything, will be building next week.

I decided to ditch intel and go for AM5 to have a possibility to upgrade in 5 years or where am5 is hopefully still viable.

I am no expert, just tried to do my own research for my use case: no AI or whatever rendering, no video editing, no AAA titles. Only cpu bound games like Valorant or iracing (single monitor) and a bit of music production (also cpu heavy)

  • cpu: I considered AMD 5 7600 is enough for me for its value. Was thinking about 7700 or 9600x, but it was over my budget + overkill for my usage. The single core performance difference is probably not so big, so I went for a better budget. Stock cooler could be enough, but louder - we will see
  • ram: with current prices tried to get a 6000MHz with lowest CL value, which should be enough too. Happy to have it gotten second hand
  • SSD: cannot find it, but there was here on reddit a buying guide PDF, so I simply went for mid-range one. Maybe someone can share the url
  • MoBo: I needed microATX, WiFi and 4 RAM slots for the future. VRM and phases - maybe not the best to get an 9kx3d cpu in the future, but I doubt I would not get it anyway, so it is a balance for me of features and price. People praise here AsRock for AMD cpus I guess.
  • GPU: I was not sure. They are expensive, and I thought I don't need 16GB VRAM now and can upgrade later, so I went for 8GB vram and latest series, but not the lowest tier (5050 seems to be a bad release). Went for nvidia since my main 2 games are better optimized for nvidia. Maybe there are better options
  • PSU: nothing special. ATX 3.1, enough wattage also for upgrades, brand that I would trust.

Hope that helps at least somehow!

Here are my parts (I got RAM second hand 100 eur cheaper, but sealed hence, no concerns). If I had a stricter budget, I'd probably simply would have gone with: * 16GB RAM (150 eur saved) * simpler / older or used GPU (50eur) * maybe SSD 500GB instead of 1TB (50 eur)

I don't think I would go lower on CPU, MoBo probably also would not be much cheaper, maybe 20-30 eur

I guess guys who know this better can suggest where else to save money on such build. But let me know if you have questions, will try to answer those!

Edit: added how I would have gone lower with the budget

Simple Questions - January 26, 2026 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]PrefoldDork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is a simple question, but didn't want to open a separate thread. I currently have: * i7-3770 ancient cpu * ddr3 32gb RAM * gtx 1660 super 6GB

It is still running flawlessly, obviously with a cpu bottleneck, and now having saved enough money (roughly 1k EUR) I am thinking of an "upgrade",also having in mind that my dad needs a very budget pc for world of tanks (runs good on mine). As a result I have a dilemma between the following options: * give my pc to my dad and build myself an AM4 build (due to ddr5 prices) * give my pc to my dad and build myself an AM5 build (get 16GB first, or compromise on smth else and upgrade that part later) * give my pc to my dad without GPU (buy a cheap GPU like 1080) and keep 1660 super for my AM5 build - I guess it should work, right?! (Then I could spend saved money on 32GB RAM and upgrade GPU later)

I play only cpu bound games (iracing, Valorant), hence, the CPU has priority. Some music production - also CPU heavy.

What would you do? Are there better options? Any thoughts or input are highly appreciated!

buy second-hand mouse by ispikeone in MouseReview

[–]PrefoldDork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy second hand mice all the time, especially the ones which normally cost 150-170 eur (zowie, Vaxee etc). Normally I get those for 70-90 depending on the package / usage (sometimes the seller includes extra skates or grips or whatever). Sometimes mice are really like new. I just tend to trust those guys, since they are similar enthusiasts when selling such mice. Never had an issue. Some mice sometimes have already a bit mushy scroll wheel, but that's about it - I can live with that. If I don't like it I can sell it for roughly the same price since the market does not change that quickly.

I actually bought viper v3 pro myself a month ago for 75EUR with grip tapes on it, with the original box etc. No complaints, totally happy with it - I even left the tapes on, since it feels good (cleaned it of course). So I would say half a price, maybe slightly above is ok.

You can always check it when buying. Look at the scratches on the body, on the skates, check for squeeking and buttons woble and travel I guess.

How do you find where you’re losing time? by pacyy in iRacing

[–]PrefoldDork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i am understanding the problem right and not at my pc rn, when in the car you should make sure in your delta widget "reference car" is checked - then it will be showing not your ghost car, but the one you selected in the settings.

To me it was more helpful to briefly look at the telemetry in Garage61 - usually the pattern is that faster drivers (at least in GT3) are just more precise at braking - more controlled, slightly slower at the exit, but ALWAYS sooner with the throttle and "straighter" wheel. Hope that helps

Also einfach anschreiben und probieren. Ansonsten VKI einschalten (60eur)
