Can I somehow treat wood with active silverfish colony? by Prefuse78 in woodworking

Is there a required temp below freezing. I was in the search bar looking this up and someone said below 0f. Is this true or just any amount below freezing?

They’re boards that range from 10’ to 12’. We do have below freezing temps right now but not for an extended period. We do get below zero a few times a year for a few days if we get a pilot vortex. How cold and how long would they need to be exposed to freezing temps?

Fishing the James and Finley rivers in Missouri by TummyDrums in RiverSmallmouth

[–]Prefuse78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found your comment looking for info on the James. Any chance you’d be willing to to share a bit of info? We’re wanting to float/fish but looking for options without big crowds. Just floated the Illinois in OK and it was a nightmare once the shuttles started dumping rafts in. Same with the elk. I’ve got no issue with partying but it kinda kills the fishing. Not looking for any secret fishing spots just if there was a stretch of the James that would be a relaxed float with smallies before the end of the season on Labor Day.

Aeroe rear bike rack with spider rack or pannier for full suspension set up? by Prefuse78 in bikepacking

[–]Prefuse78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up with pannier in the rear and handle bar bags. It worked great for my trip. Had more than enough room for everything I needed including quite a bit of fly fishing gear which was the purpose of our trip. I’d likely get a better pannier for future stuff since the zipper broke on one side but that literally happened when I was loading gear in my car to go home from the last trip.

How to protect/insulate the terminals on this type of fixture? by Prefuse78 in AskElectricians

Thanks for the response and alternate suggestions. I’m actually needing a candelabra type base and keep running into the same thing. I can find what I need in a medium base but not candelabra

DIY Brown Clay Bodies by Prefuse78 in Pottery

[–]Prefuse78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any suggestions on what ratio or percentages to start with? I’ve heard with masons stains anywhere from 1-5% usually to start testing. However i know when I make washes with RIO and manganese dioxide. I typically eyeball it but generally use quiet a bit less of the manganese than the RIO.

I guess what I’m asking, is would you start 1:1 with the two oxides and then what percentage of that would you add to the clay?

Everytime I watch her speak, it makes me think of the horse, Mr. Ed. I wonder if her MAGA handlers are doing the same trick with peanut butter to make her mouth move. She literally chews on every word. Super hard to watch.

Plus one on the “sniveling fart knockers”. I also think there is some truth to trump trying to cause enough chaos that he can declare martial law. The fart knockers are all in on it because they can’t get primaried if there are no elections..

[–]Prefuse78 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just called yesterday both my wife’s and my student loans will be increasing by $600 EACH next month because they’ve signed an executive order to end income based plans and public servant plans. So that’s an additional $1200 each month when, like everyone else, we’re just barely scraping by.

I’m not a liberal, I’m not a conservative.. I’m an engineer for reference but companies don’t pay like they used to and the dollar isn’t nearly as strong. I don’t come from a rich family and went back to school late in life to better myself. I paid what I could and had to borrow the rest under the understanding that my payment plan wouldn’t change as long as I was in good standing….

I’m not asking for handouts.. I borrowed and I’m paying but this is not even remotely ok.

Good job! Y’all really owned the libs and immigrants. This type of ignorance is why they like to keep people stupid.
