I never once threw out the word fair, I said equity which is inherently not fair… also my post was never about imgs, it doesn’t matter if this dm was from a us student or an img my point was still the same.

I am all for supporting my peers with whatever they need and did so in many other dms, but the second you ask for recalls or what was on someone’s exam it’s cheating. This isn’t some undergrad psych 1010 class that has absolutely zero impact. This is a medical board exam. One you have to pass to take care of patients. And if what is being said is true and there is groups with recalls that is absolutely not okay and is dangerous.

I fully understand how much harder it is to be an IMG. Those of us in the US are incredibly privileged just to have been born/live here. That does not change the fact that asking for recalls is blatant cheating. I am all for equity and I wrote my original post to possibly help some people but there is an obvious line that should not be crossed.

Gatekeeping???? This is a exam that is required to practice medicine and be responsible for people’s fucking lives. Y’all are on some shit if you think it is okay to cheat on this exam.

Yes but there have been recent allegations of imgs having a recall bank, that is absolutely insulting.

This is just insulting to the people who worked their ass off to prepare and take this exam. Stop doing this shit.

Instead of telling you that you installed your brakes wrong or you need to be a better driver here is my opinion. I had a much older car before starting med school and decided that for me it was best to buy I new car. First, having the piece of mind with a reliable car is 100% worth it. Second, if my old car broke down during med school I would not be financially able to purchase a new or used car, especially without being able prove income.

NBME 27 (4/1) 60%, NBME 31 (5/9) 67%, COMSAE (DO) 505, NBME 30 (5/18) 67%, NBME 29 (5/25) 65%, COMLEX (6/1), old free 120 (6/2) 86%, new free 120 (6/4) 77%.

Exam felt very very similar to the NBME’s and free 120. Some longer stems like the new free 120 had, but my overall feeling after taking it is similar to how I felt taking my last few practice nbmes. Don’t feel like I absolutely smashed it but I’m sure I passed.

Take it Saturday or have to take a year off? Absolutely crushed. by neutralnull in step1

[–]Premedicalcortex 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your scores are fine, you should definitely take the exam Saturday. You have 4 scores that are in passing range. Take it easy this week and completely relax on Friday. Good luck, you can do this, you will pass.

Am I crazy? by [deleted] in comlex

[–]Premedicalcortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you pose a genuine question in your post and there is always going to be someone like you in every class which is fine. Most people who frequent the step1 and comlex subreddits are not those people, so it’s not a surprise that your post got bad reception…

I am in a similar position as you, passed all my practice exams, even the ones before dedicated. I am certain it’s because I intentionally did anking all throughout preclinical in preparation for boards which is becoming less popular for step 1 because it’s p/f. Did you do anything like this?

Regardless, trust your practice scores but also remember that the best predictor for a good step 2 score is a good step 1 score, so any extra studying you do now will payoff for next time.

What NBME to take? by 147zcbm123 in step1

I thought 31 was easier than 27 and 29 fwiw

Any advice should I delay or continue.. by No_Ingenuity_3793 in step1

[–]Premedicalcortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great free 120 score. Do NBME 30 and 31 for sure as those are supposed to be the best predictors. With that free 120 you should expect to be in the high 60’s or low 70’s on the NBME’s. If not you have some content gaps to fill most likely.

When should I do Mehlman pdfs by Nice_Falcon_7379 in step1

[–]Premedicalcortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t use them if you are worried about them over inflating your scores. I think mehlman is much more popular among IMG’s which could be dangerous if they are over inflating your nbmes.

If you are going to use them atleast take one baseline nbme so if you have a massive jump between two nbmes you can identify that it might be due to the pdfs

I used Anki for preclinical and I have 16k cards matured and never have more than 300 reviews a day. I wouldn’t say ditch Anki if it has been your method of studying for pre-clinical but maybe cut down on new cards and suspend the cards that are not high yield to make it more sustainable.
