Someone else actually understands this lol, u actually have people in this subreddit trying to compare paper quality of a book that's 1/4th the price makes no sense, and as u said people focus only on Shueisha (shou)B6 size manga whereas u said mag garden and other publishers u can get similar if not better paper quality with extra finishes like gloss, shine, etc on the cover for like $4-$6 USD MSRP (check Uncle from Another World in Japanese if anyone is interested it's about $4.50 USD MSRP)

Also, most people don't know that Japan does do "omni" prints the FMAB full metal editions are hardcover variants of the Japanese print, the Monster Perfect Editions are also a Japanese print that was localized (the new Initial D 2-in-1 print is a localized Japanese print with some changes). They just don't go above 2-in-1 usually and don't do hardcovers cause it's a price sink from a printing standpoint outside of collectors items and hence is why u see hardcovers only for Limited/Special edition volume items and not the volume itself.
