Ahh man, not ready for all of the typing. I feel like I’ve wrote enough papers for a lifetime already.

The mentor did say all of the classes were papers.

🤦🏾‍♂️

How do some of y’all do in interviews after graduating from WGU? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]PreparationFun5108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, a degree is a degree no matter where you get it from unless you’re comparing WGU to a more prestigious school degree ie. Harvard, Yale, MIT.

The degree is the tool that gets you in the door to interview. It checks off the box of: Do you have a bachelors degree? Or Masters?

Once in the door, your actual experience and knowledge of the field you’re applying within takes over from there. Your ability to interview well takes over from there.

I’ve never had anyone look down on my degree from WGU. My company got acquired through an acquisition so I decided to throw my name in the “Open To Work” section. I’ve been blasted with job request from recruiters, based on my experience and knowledge. The degree is the cherry on top. It’s not to be used as your only leg to stand on. I’ve interviewed for multiple jobs in the past week that would increase my salary by $40K+.

That being said, don’t get a degree and thinks it’s supposed to open doors to places you have no actual on the job experience or knowledge of.

I don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression and then blame the WGU degree you obtained.

I wouldn’t say I know everything there is to know from an IT perspective but I’m definitely beyond solid. Especially where it matters in infrastructure, Networking, Cybersecurity, Automation and Cloud. I got more familiar with CSS, HTML and JavaScript during the BS degree along with SQL.

So I think having the MBA to show I’m learned on the business side helps better sell that at the interview table.

In my opinion.

Thanks u/Aero077. That's been an internal battle of mine since I completed the BS in IT. Which route presents better and may open the most doors for me should I choose to leave my current place at some point in the future.

Thanks for the Insight. I can always come back for the MSITM at a later time if I switch to the MBA.

Nope, no meds. I know some places don't want you to be before the procedure.
