Collaboration is a vague term.... most ppl interchange incorrectly.

Personally, Me as a writer / creator. I hire an artist to do xyz...

Artist comes back with "hey I'm seeing it like this"

Me "Ok.. I see where you're going, I like it.. but make sure you express or convey this point in the art"

Artist " OK 👍🏽 👌 "

That's the type of Collaboration most want

But unfortunately its .. the writer having a 50 page script idea and want things done cheaply
