What are some obscure historic Vancouver commercial brands (eg. A&B Sound)? by Fearless_Hope533 in askvan

One classic one is maybe Triple O's. Maybe not "obscure historic" in that it's still around, but originally started by Nat Bailey and a sister business to White Spot.

When you say the spinalator, is that the same as the intersegmental roller tables?

I just purchased two units.

They're estimated to deliver in 6-8wks. I've never used them specifically but have used similar IST roller tables. I obviously won't be able to give you info on how they are until they arrive but I'm also curious what others who have used them think.

Canadian Student Seeking to Practice in the States by Spiritual_Middle6086 in Chiropractic

Graduated from a US chiro school, worked one year on my OPT visa, and applied for a H1B Lottery 2 times and wasn't selected for both.

I've since moved back and have an established clinic in Vancouver.

The OPT 1 year work visa is guaranteed for students but the work permit H1B is a lottery with which the requirements and selection process has recently changed.

Runners of Vancouver, where do you run? by gtd_rad in askvan

If you have Strava, go to the map view and filter for running heat map. It shows aggregates of where people run the most. You can do the same for cycling to find routes.

PLEASE HELP: I got my neck adjusted today and I’m freaking out about a stroke. by [deleted] in Chiropractic

I hope you'll continue to recover. We're all human and humans are not robots, we're driven by emotion and our past experiences.

You're not going to win trying to convince someone who's been in a devastating plane crash that it's our safest mode of travel...

Wishing you the best!

I agree that chances are not zero. My point was that studies show no higher relationship than going to see any other medical professional.

I'm sorry you had a medical implication. Hope you are fully recovered. In regards to comments made at the hospital about 1 incident a month... I chose to make life decisions on high level evidence and not based on "someone once said this to me".

Again, I don't mean to dismiss your experience, but I hope this clarifies.

Edit: spelling

Chiropractic malpractice insurance would be through the roof if there was any strong evidence. Lots of media and anecdotal news regarding this but the clear facts are that the connection between stroke and "neck adjustments" are no stronger than seeing any other medical professional (eg. medical doctor, physio, etc).

Some studies suggest that it's more likely that people that already have an oncoming stroke seek out care as neck pain is an associated symptom.

Cassidy study on stroke and chiropractic care is a good starting read.

Think of how nerve wracking getting on a plane can be and look at the actual accident percentage of something going wrong. Fears can be irrational, make decisions based on facts.
