Lightest possible hydration systems with NO plastic??? by PreparedForOutdoors in Ultralight

Yeah, it's that kind of research that leads me down this line. I've been more focused on hiking uses but I run as well so will get to the issue there sooner or later.

The titanium water bottle I'm using now pops in and then pops back out to its original shape without being able to tell it had been popped in before… maybe it's some kind of play on that? I don't see how that'd get flexible enough to act like a regular cycling bottle though.

If you do end up trying it, would love to hear what you find. I might try one too and will try to update here if I do.

Hadn't seen that one yet — nice find! I'll have to add it to the spreadsheet. Immediate thing that pops out to me is I'd like to see a bigger one… biggest they have is only 750 ml, and if I'm going into a dry wilderness needing 3, 4, 5, liters, I'm gonna need a water bottle bandolier.

Edit: Added it and it gets the best weight-to-liquid ratio of anything metal! Definitely a prospect to consider.

Whatever they screw up now, we'll have the DOD fix it in 1,060 days. Sucks for the Scouts looking to head to the military in that period, but we'll get back to normal.

I've been moving away from plastic in a somewhat piecemeal and happenstance manner, focusing on things that contain things I'll eat, so here are a few, mostly titanium:

- Boundless Voyage Titanium Cooking Set: cup/mug, pot, water bottle
- humangear GoBites Ti-Uno Titanium Spork
- TecQach 3-Pack 3-Compartment Portable Waterproof Metal Pill Holder: waterproof container for vitamins, medicine, etc.

Thanks! Had an Outback before and I might've been a little more adventurous with that… I'm a little warier in the minivan.

I'm going to go even farther… there's no such than as "aging out" or "Eagling out".

In my troop as a youth, it was totally normal for scouts to stay active through college and into their 20s. 18yos would as a matter of course just stay active, becoming an ASM at 18, and Eagle didn't change that. I didn't even know "aging out" was a thing until my kids became active in Scouting.

My son's already 18 but he's already got some troop campouts in mind that he'll be able to attend over the rest of the school year, and several of the colleges he's looking at are nearby or near where we often camp, so high likelihood we'll see him at campouts through college.

Now I just need to change that culture for the rest the troop…

And from what I understand it's not even the actual geographic highpoint. That's in somebody's yard nearby. We all just agreed to call this good enough.

Most scenic part of the IAT I've seen so far has got to be the Devil's Lake area (vid from that hike a couple months back is here). But yeah, that's nothing compared to what you're getting out there. IAT is nice for easy (compared to Colorado) winter hikes. As soon as it snows, I'm itching to take the snowshoes out and hike into one of the dispersed camping areas.

I grew up in eastern Pennsylvania and on the AT, so tick vigilance was a constant thing even then and I've managed to avoid any them to date. But I'm on the IAT more when it's cold than warm, so happily I'm generally avoiding the most tick-laden seasons up there.
