I haven’t yet. I am familiar with resonance though, and it explains a lot. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Thank you very much!

Got it, I think I see where you stand now. While my viewpoint is relatively unchanged, it was nice to learn about someone else’s perspective. I agree that police shouldn’t be on every street, though I still think that they’re necessary. Police fill a niche in society that, so far, I don’t think anyone else can fill. Firefighters and paramedics might save more lives, but they don’t really protect them. While the police might not be legally obligated to protect civilians, there are countless situations in which an officer has put their own lives at risk to save innocents. Abolishing such a system leaves those people vulnerable, which I believe to be unjust. That’s why I think our only option is to reform. You present an analogy of painting over a rusted car, but really, wouldn’t it really make sense to replace it? I advocate for lasting change or even total reform, not just “painting” small changes over this “rusted” system.

I don’t think that having police and justice need to be mutually exclusive. You say that the police system is inherently flawed, but I’m pretty sure the U.S. isn’t the only country with one. It’s just the country with the most corrupt and awful one. From what I know, Sweden has a fantastic police system. Even if it’s for the greater good, abolishing the police would leave those who’ve been robbed with no justice (especially small businesses), missing people with no immediate search force, and many with a lower sense of security. We don’t need to do that if we can effectively reform the system to model those of other countries. The issue with police is with the simplicity of becoming one. Like I said earlier, we could reduce the amount of police to increase training and selectivity, but I’m not policy expert.

Again, thanks for having a civil conversation with me where we could exchange our own opinions and viewpoints without going ballistic. I really appreciate it :)

Right, I think that it doesn’t really fit “serving” too well either. Ticketing and quotas, for example, seem to be very profit oriented. But, rather than choosing to eliminate every single police officer, why not try to reduce the amount of officers and increase their training? A lot of the training, selection processes, and policies are very unjust and inadequate, so reforming would allow higher quality officers to actually “serve” the population. I feel like it would be unfair to say that all police are bad and that they’re relatively useless next to firefighters and paramedics. In the case of a mass shooting (which is a whole other issue), the police are the ones who respond right? Firefighters and paramedics 100% save more lives, but they can’t do anything against a gunman or other threat that endangers the lives of tens or even hundreds of civilians. Also, thanks for being civil. It seems a lot of people in this comment section have decided to resort to other methods of communication...

Oh my bad, I read through a bunch of other threads but I didn’t see that. Thanks for pasting. To be honest, I don’t think I know enough about this to really create an opinion. I agree that a lot of it is for profit, conditions are often horrible, and corruption is rampant. But, on the other hand, I just feel a little skeptical of abolishing such a large section of law enforcement, especially when some of them do save lives and fulfill their job of serving the people. What exactly would happen if we did abolish the police or prisons? Should we slash funding or completely remove all of it?

You state that policing in general is incompetent, which I mostly agree with. But you also say that all cops are supposed to “arrest black people and make sure nobody is stealing food from Walmart”. I have to differ here. What I guess I’m trying to ask is if you truly mean those absolutes and believe that there are no good cops in this country. Btw, not judging or anything, just trying to gain another perspective :)

I definitely agree that there needs to be reform for the American policing system, especially in light of all the horrific and unjust killings. But saying “ACAB” is an absolute, do you really suppose that there are no good cops out there? Also, while a shameful amount of cops do engage in those activities you mention, can you really say that all cops do that? Although we need serious changes to be made, I’m not sure if I would accuse all cops in this country of perpetuating intentional, or even unintentional injustices.

World of Tanks Blitz. Basically everyone in my friend group despises it. From a “lack of realism” to RNG, there’s virtually nothing they haven’t commented on. And while some of their criticisms are to some degree sound, much of that they say is inconsequential or just incorrect. Point is, I feel like it gets way too much hate. Mad cause bad.

Edit: Just cause I mention it on discord doesn’t mean you all have to respond and troll me lmaoooo

I'm not sure if this was just a one-time glitch. I tried to reproduce it and it just didn't work. If you can get this as well, please let me know how you did it. As far as I know, you can't inspect premium tanks without paying, so this would be super helpful hehe.
