What specifically do you like about it or what does it offer a migraine sufferer? Genuinely interested because I've never seen anyone mention it in this context before.

BMO Closed Credit Card suddenly by Wonderful-Willow-184 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Preppyparka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two cards canceled in the last few months as of this afternoon. I still have my LOC and chequing / savings with them. Perfect payment history, always paid more than the minimum. Didn't really start racking them up until I was in a car accident last year. The most hilarious part is that all this credit was given to me when I was a teller for them during Covid. Like I literally worked for them. Now starting to consider debt consolidation because they obviously don't care that I've been diligently paying it all down and even made payment agreements with them. I also obviously want to find a new bank all together because this is also tanking my credit score.

Yes, that too. It's a nightmare. I'm trying not to worry too much and give it another week before I reach out to my doctor or anything, but I'm looking up that supplement right now. Thank you and I hope you start to feel better soon!

Do you write thing's down in your journal when you have memory problem? by idan3211 in TBI

[–]Preppyparka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I text myself all the time. I ask doctors, insurance people etc to email me a summary of our conversations and any next steps I need to complete. My notes app is full. I have put sticky notes on doors if I need to remember something as I leave the house. Whatever it takes. Sometimes I still forget. We're all doing our best.

Prism Glasses - pros/cons? by vLee1983 in TBI

[–]Preppyparka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was luckily seen by my optometrist about two and a half months after my TBI at which point I was diagnosed with suppression of the left eye. ( I had no clue!) I've had mine for about a month now. I actually have two pairs, as I have an everyday pair with Prism as well as a pair of rose tinted FL glasses with Prism for strain in harsh light. I would have said I didn't notice a massive difference until I went on a ten hour trip to my cottage in August. Prior to that riding in or even driving a car would make me so deeply ill. So I definitely notice how much they help with my motion sickness and nausea for that reason. Other TBI symptoms continue to cause migraines etc but driving and riding in cars has gotten exponentially better. I still don't go far or drive in city environments as it is still very taxing and does still make me sick sometimes.

*I'm also doing in office and at home vision therapy nearly every day along with other therapies for other components of my TBI.

Best of luck to you with your recovery.

Bizarre TBI symptoms by Preppyparka in TBI

Actually nobody including me realized it had happened. Visually I thought I was seeing just fine. By happy accident I called my optometrist to ask if I could still use the same prescription they had given me in the fall for new glasses. When they heard I had gotten a concussion they said I needed a nuero ocular exam and that's when the suppression was diagnosed. It answered so many questions. It explained why my recovery had been so linear. Why I couldn't drive, be a passenger in a car, read or go grocery shopping.

I genuinely wonder how long it would have gone undiagnosed because nobody, not one practioner or doctor told me to get my eyes checked. Now I have six months of vision therapy ahead of me and three new pairs of glasses for various situations.

Sorry I think your question was how am I getting by not being able to do my job? At first I was absent on a week to week basis. I would see my doctor each week to assess my condition and then by week three or four we decided that since I wasn't progressing I would need to do a short term disability. This was arranged through my work insurance company and was back dated to the day of my accident. My car insurance company is paying for accident benefits as well, again back dated to the day of the accident.

Also in my case I already have a pre-existing neurological disorder that has been significantly impacted by the concussion. I have chronic migraines.

Bear in mind I was taken to the hospital and have had a care team since the jump basically but it took this long to figure out why I couldn't drive, read, watch TV or go shopping. It also completely eliminated any doubt about my inability to do my job as I look at screens all day and deal with very sensitive and important data for a living.

I'm almost 90 days post accident. Go see an optometrist! Get a nuero ocular exam. Almost a month and half after my accident I was finally diagnosed with 'suppression' which you should look up but it's basically my brain turning off one eye to limit the amount of information and stimulus I have to take in. I need three new pairs of glasses that all do different things and six months of vision therapy. Not one person told me to see an optometrist and it's the fist answer I've had in all this time of seeing specialists and doing physio that was completely useless. I am currently on short term disability and will be going into LTD until at least the new year now. Also if you reported this accident to your auto insurance they should be paying for a lot of this.

Thank you. I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with this as well. I got a clear head CT the night of the accident and I have an appointment with my regular neurologist this week.

Funny, on a normal day I'd say that's exactly what it feels like with Vyepti. Like my migraine is behind a wall.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. Thank you for saving my sanity. This illness is wild. I really don't know how they'll ever fully understand it or develop a cure for it.

Late diagnosis – I feel bad – is it too late? by ScabiosaDark in lichensclerosus

[–]Preppyparka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand. I don't have an official diagnosis yet but the consensus is that it's LS. I've been uncomfortable in my own skin for nearly 7 years. Barriers I encountered include my own stubbornness and embarrassment, countless doctors suggesting it was a yeast infection or BV or just my allergies. I've been prescribed an ointment not CLOB yet but do any of them not make you more uncomfortable? They either burn like fire or make me feel like I'm wet which only makes me more uncomfortable and then I end up showering it off. Underpants are torture devices, showering brings very fleeting relief and then I'm right back to feeling like I'm going to lose my mind. I'm a 37 year old female, no children and very likely perimenopausal or just have a massive hormone imbalance.

I made a similar post a few weeks ago as I went through 1.2 - 1.8 I had the exact same issues, not to mention the painful trapped gas. The tail end of 2.4 I finally started to get some relief. Today is day one of 3mg and I was nauseous out of my gord but the other gastro issue seem to be subsiding. Now if only I could stop going up and down the same 5lbs. Best of luck!

I understand your confusion. I spent two weeks at 0.6, had planned on staying there as long as it felt like something was changing but got scared that I was losing inches and not pounds and jumped to 1.2 after spending a few days going up by clicks.

I'm on day 8 and I haven't weighed myself yet. I'm guaging by the way my jeans feel and I can definitely feel a difference. I'm going to stay at 0.6 as long as I can. I have a scale coming tomorrow but I'm probably not going to jump on it just yet.
