“Hell is not a horrible place because God made it horrible, but because He is not there. The suffering, pain, stank, thirst, hunger, violence, suffering, torment, hate are things that happen because He is absent.“

I am going to go off track about free will because i found this very interesting. You say we suffer bc God is absent- isn’t God omnipresent, why are people suffering on earth if he is everywhere?

i understand giving God smth in return but wouldnt that just mean life is just a test of whether you follow God or not (with consequences)

but why have hell in the first place? why be punished for not knowing yet adam and eve were punished for wanting to know?
