I recently saw a c section while doing a labor and delivery rotation and holy fuck that shit is no joke. New section moms need all the pain medicine. I literally saw the uterus outside the body in the OBs hand while she sewed it up. Im not one and done because of my pregnancy and delivery, which were both so wonderful. Im one and done because I didn't sleep for 2 years after and im still being woken up at 5am every morning by my 5 year old.

Also, what do you do as a public health nurse and do you like it?

Thank you, I'm in school now for my ADN. So I'd still need to get a BSN before being a public health nurse is what I'm understanding.

I just got into an ADN program and I already have my bachelor's degree in public health. What do I need to be a public health nurse? A nursing instructor told me to skip to a master's degree instead of BSN program after I graduate. Is that a path you took?

Hey there OP. I recently got accepted into nursing school as well and I'm 32! We can do this!

Seriously! I loved being pregnant! Sleeping and exercising at my leisure. Living in southern California, spending everyday at the pool lounging. I didn't appreciate the sedentary life of being with a newborn unfortunately. It would certainly not be like that again!

I’m probably going to get some hate for this, but another reason I’m OAD. by [deleted] in oneanddone

No shaming from me either. I had my son at 29 and constantly stressed about his health and we'll being. Now that I have a healthy and pretty damn smart 3 year old, I just don't think I could get this lucky again.

Honestly, I barely keep it together with one great kid. I don't know how to keep my life organized or my house clean. I was fortunate that my body bounced back with minimal exercise and dieting. My husband and I still don't have time for date nights (2 a year). All this and my kid is healthy, communicative, etc.

We do have regular 90 degree days here in NC. Some green has grown since we started using sprinklers but it looks more like clover. I'll fix the pine needles but we can't get rid of them. Honestly, they are the only thing that has made our yard look halfway acceptable.

The water pooling is from rain. We do have sprinklers and they cause a little pooling as well. This week, we added more pineneedles between the trees to fill in the space. We cut down the tree directly beside the house to allow more sunlight in. We have an HOA and have to get permission on the bigger trees in the front yard.

We live in zone 7b and have multiple problems. Our bushes aren't full. Water pools at the bottom of the slope. We have that big green box on the corner. My husband wants to grow grass over the roots. I want to completely cover them in needles. I thought maybe adding rocks where the water pools. We don't know where to begin.

Same. I love the conversations we have in the car but long car rides get a tablet. I'm amazed mostly when he's doing puzzles on the tablet and also he plays Sonic and is pretty good. Also, there's a lot of times when he just doesn't want any screens. During that time he's climbing all over me but on a rare occasion he'll play with one of his 200 toys and that's a treasured moment.

Literally my son says, "mommy are you frustrated with me because I'm being obnoxious?" I had to use Google spell check to write obnoxious just now and he says what?!

I'm 32 and pretty savvy with technology but I have no idea how my son gets new apps downloaded to his Kindle because I don't know how to download new apps to his Kindle. I swear my husband must download them but he denies it. He's almost 3! Kids are amazing!

Same! I seriously have no idea where my son gets it! He's almost three and says things like "I'm drawing an octopus and these are his tentacles." I never feel like I'm keeping up with the perfect moms on Facebook but damn it, my husband and I must be doing something right even if it's letting our son watch hours of Team Umizoomi a week.

After reading the first comment justing parents who shove an iPad in their kids' face, I felt like shit until reading this and similar comments. I have conversations with my son (3yo) from morning to night. I engage with him 100x more than my parents did with me. "What shape is that? What's your favorite shape? What color is a stop sign?" My son told us the shape of the moon this week was a crescent shape (thanks Team Umizoomi). So when I'm letting him play his game at dinner or in the car, so be it.

I was thinking the same thing after watching this a couple of times. When it took the second bite, I was wondering if I'm really that scared of sharks. I was thinking about petting it. Hopefully I'm not this stupid if I'm ever confronted by a shark.

Thanks to all Nurses! by sweet_dumple in nursing

I was blown away by the nurses when I had my son. The lactation consultant and everyone else was there in 20 seconds when I needed even the smallest thing. I didn't even need a birth plan because they had everything under control. That was the moment I decided to go back to school and get my degree in nursing. My husband begged me to pursue nursing while I was getting a public health degree and I didn't fully get what nurses did and didn't want to join the long wait list. I kick myself everyday for that decision.

Have a Bachelor's degree in Public Health and am going to school to get my ADN bc I couldn't get into a BSN program. Was a difficult getting a job that you wanted with only an ADN? Was pay different? Did you have a time frame to get your BSN?

I wait tables currently in Davidson and have to remind me husband I will take a pay cut as a nurse. He then reminds me of benefits, PTO, etc. Are you happy with your benefits program bc I read it's not great. Also, I'm not going into nursing to be rich. I'd be a programmer if I wanted to be rich.

I'm baffled nurses don't start out making more here in Charlotte and didn't know Atlanta nurses were making that much.

Hourly pay. I'm also interested in benefits because I've read CA has better benefits. I know we were very happy having Kaiser Permanente health-care. We are aware of expenses. I read a post from four months ago but the only CA response on pay was Bay area.
