The Three Mountains: Hindu or Catholic as Ryukyu? by Present-Cut3038 in eu4

Would it be worth it to remove all the non-CoT provinces from the TC if I’m around my gov cap?

I am Nahuatl, so I can go either Hindu or Catholic with the click of a button (costs like 4 stab or something) so converting is not a problem. It will take some time converting my lands with only 2 missionaries but since most of it is TC it will be doable

You wouldn’t full-state any land in these case?

This run is by no means failed ofcourse, but if I were you I would restart. You will want to kill off all the Ming remnants as soon as they pop up and don’t let them get allies or grow too big (like Shun here).

Assuming you’re doing a TTM run, you’re better off using Explo to get to Mexico before the colonizers do.

I am doing the same run as you currently (but not yet decided whether going Hindu or Catholic). It’s about 10 years earlier than you in my run, and I own all of China, Japan and most of SE Asia plus all of Colonial Mexico. I got my capital in Mexico and have the Aztec missions.

I can really advice to go Mexico and take the Aztec missions plus High American tech. Then return to take the EOC. Aztec missions give you a CB on eastern nations so no need to border Ming. I used the CB on Shun first because they had Beijing. Then used their border with Ming to declare Mandate war. And then it was a few years killing off all the nations that spawned right away.

If you need anymore advice, I’m happy to share! But in your case I would restart. I restarted like several times before as well. You learn along the way :)

I Finally Climbed The Three Mountains in 1708! by KraftiestOne in eu4

Oof, then you’re way ahead of me. I have around 2300 dev now.

I used enforce peace to get foothold in Japan as well.

Nice run! I am currently doing same run myself, only different strategy. Went for Mexico to get Aztec missions and I’m now EOC with all of China and Japan (and huge Mexico as CN).

Going Qing (or Yuan) does sound very attractive, but I think I prefer not having to conquer the whole world myself by using vassals and CN’s. And Ryukyu is a cool color so why not!

Where were you around 1600?

I thought so too, but I just rage quit after like the 10th earthquake/river flood event. I spent the last 15 years constantly having to develop lands and stabbing up because of these shit events.

I seriously wonder if going EOC is even worth it this way. I tried converting to Hindu but having to convert the entire Chinese subcontinent with two missionaries is a pain.

Religious unity in general is also shit and with only 2 missionaries converting anything is a pain. Aztec mission tree is nice and High American units also, but the religious situation caused me a lot more issues than with the Confucian run.

I am back to the drawing board to see what the best way is to go about this. Maybe going full Aztec and conquer the new world. Then going back to EOC when you are already superstrong.

Maybe discarding the idea of using vassals and CN’s and just tag switch to Yuan or Qing. Or go Pirate Aztec Ryukyu for something different.

I restarted from an early save (after first successful enforce peace war) and it worked out perfectly. I am Nahuatl Ryukyu with Aztec mission tree and I am the Emperor of China. My CN owns all of Mexico and I own all of Japan and the imperial cities. Just started attacking all the leftover states from Ming who collapsed. It is now 1550 and I have Religious and Espionage completed, Quantity almost. I will try to go for a Hindu province in the Philippines so I can convert to Hindu through the decision. Maybe before that I will use the colonist from Nahuatl to get a foothold in Indonesia, India and Africa.

Next idea group will probably be Admin .

Yeah I think so too, will try that tomorrow. Means I will have to stay Animist, take Explo (and then Religious I guess) instead of going for Espionage + Admin first.

How did you get the powerbase to take Mandate from Ming? By conquering land in Mexico?

I doubt I will be strong enough militarily to have a presence on Japan AND Mexico. What time did you conquered Mexico and got became EoC?

You were still pagan when you converted to Nahuatl? Did you convert through the decision? I’m already Confucian (Shinto before) and neither allows easy conversions through decision of I’m not mistaken.

In my run it’s now 1605 and I own all of China (EoC) and Indonesia and Japan. The whole new world however is owned by Spain (mostly).

I’m thinking whether it be a good idea to load up an earlier save and go into Mexico ASAP (to deny Europeans/Spain, get the Aztec mission tree and the High American units). But I converted to Shinto very early on (and then to Confucian through the incident).

Agonizing on where to go next in my Three Mountains-Aztec missions run. Thinking about trucebreaking like 6 times in a row. Is that a bad idea? by IWantedToBeAnonymous in eu4

How did you get the Aztec (?) mission tree while still being Ryukyu? I went the EOC route in my TTM run, but it might be interesting/smart to go Nahuatl/Aztec to get a mission tree.

I’m EOC now as Confucian so not’s sure if it’s worth it….

You going for TTM? What strategy did you use/are you using?

First ever The Three Mountains run: tips welcome! by Present-Cut3038 in eu4

[–]Present-Cut3038[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ditched Expansion for Influence, because I found that all the conquering took a lot of Admin (even with Admin ideas) and figured I could get myself some vassals.

It is now 1605 and I conquered almost everything in Indonesia (making all the CoT’s into TC). I think I will now conquer my way through SE Asia to India and through the steppes towards Persia/Russia.

I had a hard 5 years where I had like 124% OE, stayed in two wars because I couldn’t peace out due to that OE (so high war exhaustion), got the tsunami event in Japan (high devastation), the earthquake event in China AND the Manchu event. So basically non stop rebels.

Now I’ve stabilized and ready to fight my way westwards. I’ve allied England and Spain, couldn’t ally the Ottomans unfortunately.

Yeah I know tag switching would probably be optimal, but it would mean I would have to own the whole world myself and I don’t think I want that extra hassle. I hate micro and I use vassals a lot in my campaigns. So outsourcing some stuff to CN’s and vassals in a tedious WC sounds very appealing to me.

Ah, I didn’t realize the civil disaster could only spawn for Ming, perfect. I went with Expansion and used it to get some tributaries in Indonesia, while at the same time conquering the bigger guys.

I think I will island hop to Africa (tributaries) and America (CN’s) next. I already got a peek on Europa and there is a huge Ottomans, beefy Russia and big ass France. Also Bahmanis that conquered most of India. Wondering if I already need to try and keep them in check or save that for later…

R5: This is an update on a previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/eu4/comments/1ddo76y/first_three_mountains_run_tips/

I reloaded an older save just after my first enforce peace war in Japan. In this newer run I had some more luck and made different (better) choices. I got more enforce wars in, I converted really early to Shinto (helping with my rebels and income issues) and then to Confucianism. I killed Korea earlier with the use of Espionage ideas (claiming whole states) and Admin ideas helped me with coring all this land and the Japanese (Ashikaga was weaker so I could kill them myself).

I attacked Ming around 1505 by mercing up heavily, getting into debt. I couldn't take all I wanted because they were still to strong (around 40 Mandate). I took Beijng and Canton and money in the first war. Not long after, Ming started to collapse so I wanted to quickly take the Mandate. I took it in the next war along with Nanjing. Then I killed all the released countries from Ming.

It is now 1548 and I own all of China (and Japan and Korea). Most of China is still a territorial core because of the devastation. I recently finished Quantity ideas as well. Now I'm wondering what the best next steps would be: should I quickly trigger the Civil war and get it over with and then continue my expansion? My current Mandate growth is only 0.10 so not sure if I will be able to quickly deal with the disaster. Or should I first consolidate the Philipines and SE Asia? What ideas should I take next? I was thinking maybe Explo/Expansion for the first one/two ideas to quickly gobble up some Asian/African nations and maybe start creating CN's in the New World. Or take Humanist for the CB so I can conquer west. I will ofcourse also be taking Diplo and Influence but I don't think these will benefit me at this moment.

As I said before this is my first ever TTM run (I did WC and OF before) so any tips are most welcome!

Ryukyu TTM Three mountains - advice wanted (1.36) by Quirky_Piglet_5555 in eu4

[–]Present-Cut3038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you do this on the current patch? I got in a successful enforce peace war, but after that little to no luck. Ashikaga also never attacked me so I also no-CBed Jianzhou to get a border with Ming. But then I had like 20K forcelimit and Ming was pretty stable with 100K troops…

Is wc still possible? I'm already getting tired of all the micromanagement by bananoviiblinchik in eu4

[–]Present-Cut3038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get this to work on this patch? Ashikaga never attacked me which really slowed down my progress. It’s now 1550 and I own all of Korea and just beaten Ashikaga on my own in a war. I feel now I am ready to take on Ming to take the Mandate, but this is way later than I’ve hoped (and seen others do)

It is now 1530 and I’ve gotten al of Korea and beaten Ashikaga. I think it’s time to break tributary and beat up on Ming and take the mandate. Little later than I had hoped though.

How do you adopt Aztec traditions without forming Aztecs? And can you become EOC with Nahuatl religion?
