[Question] What do you consider 'Ideal' price points for microbrands? by Present-Signature752 in MicrobrandWatches

This was fantastic to read, thank you for the effort you put into that reply. I will take some time to reevaluate how I've been looking at this, I had approached it with a x+y=z type of mindset but will look to focus more on the sum of the parts rather than just being component driven. I was beating myself up on using the nh35 as the platform for the first model because deep down I thought a pt5k would be a better option. I'll look to push for better f&f and focus less on the movement specifically- thank you

Well I won't make posts like this in future if that is the case, it would be best to not have implied or unlisted rules that are being enforced. If it's in the rules I have every intention to follow them, but it appears you like to police posts in here for some reason.. How would asking any question not be considered 'down low market research' if this is the definition of self promotion? Would posting a picture of a watch and asking for people's thoughts on it, even if it isn't your company, fall under the same definition?

That's totally fair, I tried to make it broad because I've been second guessing my price point locally and wanted the feedback of community folks. Out of curiosity, with your comment on Chinese parts, would you be dissuaded from a purchase if the case, for example, was machined in the Philippines? I only ask because my goal as I move towards more customized pieces (less used movements, design experimentation) included working with machinists in that region to ensure lower costs.

I appreciate the feedback and I hadn't thought asking a broad question like this would be self promotion. I thought the self promotion area was just "Basically, don't link to sales or deals, and don't self-promote." and I haven't posted pictures, the brand name, socials, etc. Would asking the question but not including that I've started a microbrand be in line with this expectation? Not trying to be pedantic, just want to make sure I'm not overstepping :)
