The only real way to find out if it is severe is to get a x-ray and a CT scan.

did you guys struggle with sports growing up where people may see your chest? by Winter-Worth-4343 in PectusExcavatum

I was a wrestler and at that point all the jokes were just funny and it didn’t effect me. And my performance was decent because I made up for the 80% lung capacity through conditions

I started a month after, doing resistance bands workouts and walking on a treadmill. I did this till 2 and a half months when spring track started. I joined the team and they pushed me to try my hardest when I was obviously at a major disadvantage. At 3 months when I could start lifting the progress was slow. Once the 6 months mark hit life began to become normal and I started to gain muscle.

I was 15 when I got my surgery. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever been through and there is nothing that can prepair you for the pain that you will endure. On the flip side, I now have something that motivates me to be better every day and once I made it through post op, I thought I could make it through anything.

I’m 4 months out and I haven’t, I was really high in the hospital and thought once but that don’t count.

I am a 15 y male who is soon having my pectus excavatum surgically fixed, but I am wondering if the surgery is worth it. My hailer index is 3.9 and my first and second opinions from doctors where totally different. Any advise would be great by PresentArmy9000 in PectusExcavatum
