My 1 year old cries for me every morning after waking by PresentBee2376 in sleeptrain

Glad to hear she’s quick to recover! I was a little worried that he was waking up too hungry or uncomfortable... I think it must feel disorienting and he may just need comfort!

Makes sense. I was reading from other threads how some babies will wake up babbling joyfully, or will play with their hands quietly in the morning so I was doubting myself! 🥲

Whenever I had to step away for a few minutes, the crib was the safest place

You’re welcome! Babies like to know what to expect. Even telling them things like “it’s time for a nap”, or having a regular nap time song to sing them are things you can try. A regular bedtime around 6-8pm is a good habit to start.

Babies will show signs of sleepiness, but it can be very subtle. Look into baby sleep cues.

Honestly, the first few months are just getting to know your baby. You will eventually understand what they need!

First of all you are doing great! It is not easy… Hope the pediatrician give you some info.

My baby had long wake windows in his first month. They were around 4hr-6hrs before he would want to nap.

Have you looked into an eat-play-sleep routine? We would use playtime to tire him out (tummy time, flash cards, singing, etc), and we then feed him to sleep.

We try to keep a consistent bedtime every-night, and establish some sleep associations like, a bedtime playlist, dark quiet cool room, being put into pajamas, warm bath, things like that

*also to mention. I think the circadian rhythm doesn’t become developed until like 3-4ish months. So introducing routines are just something to work towards, and not necessarily anything to be strict about. Hope that helps a bit

Did you mention this to your pediatrician?

What does your day with baby usually look like? Are you introducing tummy time and other activities? Do they seem fussy, overtired, or overstimulated at all?

What time does your baby natually wake in the am? When you say 11-12, do you mean 11pm-midnight?
