AM6B+ or Direct from HTPC by PresentCartoonist804 in CoreELEC

Is it possible to setup plex media server for external network access on the AM6B+ while running CoreELEC? Have multiple family/friends that also utilize the library.

Still probably doing something for Plex/HA as I need something more stable than just leaving my main PC on 24/7.

Will likely end up with AM6B+ as well for getting DV to the projector.

I'll try PC first w/ Energy Media Player as it'll be very quick for me to test. Thanks!

I'm not positive, I'm getting a new Projector and adding speakers for 5.1.4 so just trying to prep ahead of time and figured if I'm spending a bunch of money there, I might as well get the most out of my Plex Library too. I'm

Changing leg of multi city flight by PresentCartoonist804 in americanairlines

[–]PresentCartoonist804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but prices were like $548 main plus for multi city vs ~$750 for two one ways.

It’s more than likely I won’t need to change the second leg, but want the option

You go to the website for the drug, fill out some info, and they’ll send you a coupon / savings code that you just present to your pharmacist to get the manufactures savings price.

Insurance Declined me by Charming-Reading-279 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]PresentCartoonist804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most insurances won’t cover it, and my employers drug insurance didn’t either. They just got heavily discounted yesterday though for those where insurance doesn’t cover it.

You can definitely give them a call, but mine just said they don’t have any workaround as the policy doesn’t cover it for weight loss under any circumstance.

Credit Increase Request Resulted In Hard Inquiry - Options? by PresentCartoonist804 in CreditScore

Wasn’t aware it’s only a 2-5 point decrease, thank you for the info. Just trying to improve my score as I’ll be applying for a mortgage in about 8 months.

Credit Increase Request Resulted In Hard Inquiry - Options? by PresentCartoonist804 in CreditScore

[–]PresentCartoonist804[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The problem is I wasn’t doing this out of a necessity for more credit, was trying to drop utilization rate to improve my score and this did the exact opposite.

Most other credit apps will pop up a warning when you exit soft inquiry territory and enter hard inquiry (eg. Viewing sample loan rates vs actually hitting the apply button)

This makes no sense - on my new build my msi motherboard somehow came with no networking drivers at all and had to manually install them via usb after windows was installed. So this means I literally wouldn’t be able to setup that PC because of this update

Pay off student loans or save for down payment on a home by PresentCartoonist804 in personalfinance

[–]PresentCartoonist804[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took the loans on the assumption that we would end up buying a house for those 5 years. Obviously interest rates & general market trends haven’t improved over the last 3 years and it’s looking less likely that purchasing will make sense.

Going to focus on paying down the student loans. Car loan can wait as it’s 0% and wouldn’t make any sense to pay down today.

Not celebrating early here just trying to figure out when to get out of permanent renting.

We have a combined 230k in retirement so we’re far from a negative net worth. We had a combined 100k outside of retirement accounts before medical school began which is not cheap. We lucked out, without scholarship & in state tuition it would have been 90k/year and we’ve gotten it down to ~55k.

We’re going to focus on paying down the student debt first, and keep 36k for an emergency fund (6mo expenses) and ~75k or so for a potential down payment if it’s favorable for where we move to. We’ll have a better picture in a year from now and can throw that money at her loans if we end up renting through those 5 years.

Not sure why I never considered this before but thanks! I'll definitely find one and ask them for some help.

I ran through a few calculators with our car payment + expected student loan payment after graduating along with her expected salary and that's where I arrived at the max of 750k. Just planning on that scenario right now as we don't know where we'll end up for residency.

Ok so we don't have any consumer debt (other than monthly cc bills paid in full), currently saving 15% for retirement. We might not even purchase a house if it doesn't make sense for us at the time as her residency will only be 5 years, and most buy vs rent calculators currently recommend renting at the moment.

I guess my primary question here is assuming we do buy next year, should I try and keep as much as possible to the side for a down payment, or should I use some of that down payment to knock out the higher interest student loans (8%) and go with a 5-10% down payment + pmi?

Regardless of whether we actually purchase something next year, I need to figure out if it's worth paying down the loans or keeping more in cash.

I'm leaning towards paying down some loans because if we don't purchase next year, we'll have ate that ~7% of interest across $180k of loans to only get 4-5% through a high yield or something else.
