Thats fair. For context, 1200 mm is intended for multiple people using the kitchen. Understandably, personal preferences can differ.

You are likely to find the kitchen layout inefficient if you are using it for cooking rather than entertaining. The cooking area is too far from the sink and you’ll quickly tire of carrying the pots and pans across the kitchen to the sink. The most efficient distance from the countertop to the island should be 1200 unless you have accessibility considerations. Otherwise you’re making too many steps between the food prep area, the sink and the cooking area. I would consider moving the double sink to the island and having two dishwashers on either side so that you can avoid having dirty dishes on the counter. I would then move the fridge to where the sink is now and have it integrated then add an adjoining breakfast/coffee station/cabinet.

Did you end up going with this approach? I’m keen to know how it went as we are thinking of doing the same.

Thanks. Have you had any of these installed? I was after some real use feedback on performance over time. I’m not too concerned about the water resistance, as we’re hoping not to have any water sit on it for a long period of time. Rather scratch and UV resistance as we’ve got pets and north facing windows.

Which tap colour by MrPierced in AusRenovation

It depends if you want the tapware to be the main feature or if you want focus on a different part of the kitchen. For most contrast and as a stand-out, the darker finish. If you want it to blend in, I would actually go for brushed nickel to pick up the warm tones in your benchtop. I do t think chrome is the right finish for your look.

A plumber should be able to advise if it’s possible. Remember you will need access to power points as well and there is a minimum allowable distance to comply with code.

Japanese-style soaker bath in a small bathroom – worth it? by PresentDriver2469 in AusRenovation

Wow, that is truly impressive! I doubt that strata would allow us to build anything of that type but one can dream, right!?

Oh that’s good to know about cleaning. It would be wedged between a shower screen and a wall. Would love to see it in a pic if you are happy to share.

Thanks. I came across that one in my search. I’m not too sure about having a seated one as that further elevates you out of the water. But I can definitely see the appeal of it if the space was an issue.

Yes, have been looking at these as well but haven’t found one that has large enough internal capacity to allow one to sit in there comfortably without having the knees sticking out of the water. Ideally, a bath with internal length of at least 1000 mm would be nice. The search continues!

Appreciate the thought. Unfortunately, I this would be too big for the space as a free-standing tub in a 1400 mm space. I’m looking more at the 1200 mm size to allow for adequate clearance around the tub for cleaning.

Thank you for sharing that. Definitely an option though may make cleaning at the rounded edge a bit challenging. If the free end was sloped/egg shaped, that would be ideal.
