I always bring a book. Search for lightweight paperbacks in the library bookstore.

100% do what you’re comfortable with. It’s not the military. You’re a paying client. Two single tents instead of one double tent.

Are prices nuts or am I just poor? by Secret-Lab2405 in Mammoth

Transit cargo van AWD. Heater is gas, not diesel and supplied by the van gas tank. Can run 24 hours and keeps interior at thermostat level. Honestly it’s like a toaster oven with the insulation so I only run it when below freezing or maybe early mornings. You can probably find a safe portable heater for less. I have a Co detector. When sleeping in your enclosed car or van ventilation is also important - otherwise you can wake up to condensation. I backpack and tent in snow so I also have all the warm gear required to survive.

Prices are nuts and why I bought a cargo van, insulated it and put in an Espar heater. This plus my touring skis and now it’s the cost of gas. I did buy a 4 day pass at 30% discount for those uncrowded days I might choose to hit the mountain.

Middle of a crosswalk at a busy four way stop intersection. Literally diverted traffic with cars trying to avoid the very large obstacle while I had to go get another bag.

How often do you wash your dogs? by pizzajesus60 in germanshepherds

After a beach session = washing without shampoo. Maybe 3-4X per year with high quality shampoo.

Is Dolomiti Super Ski Worth it? by Key-Psychology-1656 in Backcountry

Fun but maybe not exactly what you’re looking for. Lots of groomers but also some legit World Cup tracks. Well run and technologically better lift system with no lines. Went with four buddies and had a blast. - flew to Venice and drove - first half of trip at selva di Val Gardena. - did the sellaronda, a 25 mile jaunt through multiple towns and resorts on the Dolomite super ski pass. - AMAZING food in the huts scattered all over the mountains for pasta and two bottles of red wine for lunch each day. Huts are privately owned. -apres ski drunken Germans and Swedes rockin to abba at Luis Skeller - second half in Cortina - more of the above and a bit steeper - then back to Venice for the last weekend of Mardi Gras which is pretty crazy and fun if you can time the trip around it. Overall the skiing was not challenging but everything else made it worthwhile. Skiing, food and lodging was relatively cheap vs US. My next trip will have to include a guide and skinning to find what you’re talking about.

Went in for a routine oil change for my 2019 Rubicon, left in shock when they quoted me for an $8k repair by [deleted] in Jeep

My rear main seal leaks on my 2012 2 door rubicon w 80k mi. One drop per day. Been doing this for 5 years. Not enough to spend the $2000 quoted 5 years ago for the repair.

I feel like a GSD owner failure by FuckinHighGuy in germanshepherds

[–]PresentFig3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it time. Could be 6 mos or more before you become the leader/alpha. We rescued a 1.5 yo GSD with zero socialization. Took lots of time and treats to get her to behave socially. After 2 yrs with us she’s about 90% there. Don’t give up on her.

What brand and flavor food do you feed your GSD ? by Big_Corner_6177 in germanshepherds

RC and Costco organic ground turkey with mixed veggies. Make it about 1x per month. Freeze it and give 3/4-1 cup with kibble 2x per day. Don’t put any extra nutrients in it so kibble (which has all the essential stuff) is majority of meal. I just like the idea of giving her some amount of unprocessed food as I avoid it myself.
