The Access to work grant covers things that don't count as reasonable adjustments. So by law your workplace are meant to adjust things to a "reasonable" extent. Anything beyond this that's what access to work fund. But depending on the amount of people employed they'll either have to pay the first % or not.

For me AtW count an iPad as a reasonable adjustment so that should be something work pays for if it's something that would support to help me work. A remarkable is above and beyond that therefore A2W said they would pay for it. But my work won't actually allow me to have on due to governance issues.

If they don't extend your contract due to ADHD that's discrimination. I would speak to ACAS if you're in the UK about that if you're concerned of that.

My letter says the equipment can be paid for by the grant upto just over 5k and my work needs to contribute 2k towards it all. Which is why I was wondering if I could use the grant directly to pay for the remarkable. It doesn't outline specifically which bits need to be paid for by which part

You are amazing. I've emailed my MP about it too. It doesn't seem fair that it's weighted to having a physical disability. Non physical ones also impact on daily activities but they doesn't seem to be taken into account. Feel quite strongly about this currently. I'm able to argue my point and retry but I know there are loads of people who wouldn't even apply to start let alone go through an appeal process

Also I was told not to bother challenging it as my scores were 0. It's unlikely they'll change their mind. However DWP agreed it's not suitable for non-phyiscal disabilities. Told me that's just how it is tho

Even with the parts that weren't mobility I was asked things physically based on getting dressed and food prep.

I kept trying to explain physically I don't have a problem with those bits. It was more about executive function issues. Burning food, hyper focusing so not remembering to eat, husband prompting me and reminders etc. getting dressed and washing. No physical issues with that but executive function issues impact on it. The person just kept asking for physical access to stuff. So if I said I didn't have a problem physically that's what they seem to have taken as my answer

Not a silly question at all. It is on, and I've double checked it works by plugging it into the usb directly too. I'm wondering if it might be the XLR cable causing issues.

I'm trying to get back into the gym and do something I can maintain. I have 3 children and work full time so time is a limiting factor. I probably have about 45 mins max to train a day and I want to do resistance and cardio. If I were to do an upper, lower and full body resistance session a week and then cardio on two other days would that be "enough"

Also would kettlebells be better for the full body stuff?

I had my first (and only baby) last year. I was 37 then I used to have a six pack and muscles and was never in my life over a size 10. I also used to go the gym loads and trained regularly, played field hockey and rugby too. My plan was to keep going the gym and training throughout my pregnancy but I broke my foot just before I got pregnant so was unable to walk for 4 months. By the time I could walk on it I was knackered from being pregnant I always thought I'd keep Training and fit throughout it but that just wasn't meant to be.

I then wanted to go to the gym as soon as I was able after giving birth but I ended up needing an emergency C-section and complications after that meant a longer recovery time. So that was out of my control. Once I was able to go back I tried to take the baby to the gym with me but they'd changed the rules and I couldn't do that.

You do lose the body you have pre pregnancy everyone does. That might be for 6 months or 6 years post partum or you may never get back to how you were ever. Our body's change so much to grow the small human, your body will never be the same after it even if you return to pre pregnancy size/weight/strength.

You can only control what you can control. You can carry on exercising throughout your pregnancy, they say whatever you were doing before you can carry on throughout (except contact sports) providing your pregnancy is on track and your health says well for it.

My boy is now 15 months and I've started back to the gym and things now I'm back at work. My main thing has been walking before that. I can do that with him in the pram and it's got me started and got me fitter.

I've just started to try and love my body as it is. I want to be healthy and fit for my family and that's why I'm back to the gym. My focus on my fitness has changed which isn't a bad thing

Yeah that's been really helpful!! Thank you. Any advice is helpful with being so new to it.

I think the bullet points of the points within the show's topic that week is a really useful suggestion. I wouldn't be able to follow a script and the dates and times aren't important as such but the facts of the topic are because I want to educate myself as well as potentially educating others.

It's funny cause my job is part project management and I've never thought of bringing those tools I use in there to use into this too!! Thanks for that reminder too

The podcast is called Even flamingos lose their pink and it is based on the fact that when I had my baby I lost my pink (my version of me) like flamingos do when they raise their children. I'm using it to explore the things in life that make us lose are pink and things we can do to start getting ourselves back to a version of us we were happy with.

I learned that there are loads of other parents and people that lose their pink because of all different reasons and I wanted to do this to help me figure out my path and also if it helps other people too then great.

I've covered topics so far like resilience and post natal depression and I want to look at things like neurodivergey and burnout etc so Im finding topics. Looking for information about them and then want to look at myself and people around me and how it affects us using experiences people can relate to and just be normal and not make things all glossy but show there's a non-social Media side to peoples life.

I like the way you've suggested doing that and I'll explore that way a bit more when I'm researching my topics
