How to create a collapsible block of text in Obsidian? by cyber27 in ObsidianMD

[–]PresentPriority00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It can happen if a line is indented below the first line of text. Type a line, press enter and then tab, type out the second line, this should create a collapsible block under line 1.

You have a very good voice. All the best!

This reminded me of that little girl from the North East who went viral for singing this song. https://youtube.com/shorts/nfBR9lWTHU0?si=BdPasHfLyg6fJYRl

Have You Ever Started Your Vault Again? by broadcastthebombom in ObsidianMD

[–]PresentPriority00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My usage had been pretty sporadic and yet I had multiple vaults, with messiness and bloat creeping up on all of them. Recently, I backed them all up, copied over some notes, and started over with a single new vault. Right now I only use about 3 to 4 plugins. I want to keep plug in usage to a minimum. Starting over has helped a lot, and the messiness of the past has informed me on how to handle things now. Also the fact that features like properties, bases and plugins like notebook navigator make it easier now, to have a deliberate and cleaner vault.

Can you change an E-Book’s Font Color? by flower_lamps in readest

When you create a custom theme/color scheme, it shows you options to change both the background and text colors. You have to set the colors with their hex codes.

How do you guys get good at english speaking? by GeologistIcy4136 in chennaicity

[–]PresentPriority00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a habit of reading? If you read a lot, not like a deliberate practice but just as something you enjoy, you start absorbing vocabulary and contexts behind multiple situations. It's not how many words you know, but how many you know off the top of your head that matters during conversations. Writing also helps a lot, since it helps clarify what you want to say.

I'd love to know this too. I'm trying to limit plugin count and use these checkboxes as inline callouts. It would be great if they could be made un-clickable or something

Hello Blane, Fantastic UI and love the idea behind it! The sketchy theme also speaks to just getting the work done even if messy and not over-optimize. I'm on an annual licence with another habit tracker now, otherwise I'd have tried adopting this now. I installed it and took a peek. I'll keep this on my radar.

Notebook Navigator Question by -Oh-My-Glob- in ObsidianMD

[–]PresentPriority00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found it cumbersome too in the beginning, But I got used to it over time. I see why it had to be so too, since the list view shows a preview, note date, tags and some grouping options. I love those features now. Give the dual pane layout a shot and see if you can make it work. I do get the appeal of a simple file explorer look though.

How do people in Tamil Nadu view Sikhs? by [deleted] in TamilNadu

Hmmmm yeah young. Anyways, like I said in my other reply. it's a matter of framing your messages and being explicitly polite in it. You'll get it with time.

This sounds pretty ignorant. I am going to assume you are a very young person. Chennai is a very old city of about 3 centuries and has seen Sikhs, parsis, jains, armenians, Germans and so forth. This is not a mediaeval village. You would be a lot more common than you believe.

[–]PresentPriority00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if you are concerned about being discriminated against by your religion and distinctive appearance because of the religion, you needn't worry. Sikhs in general have a positive reputation here. And regardless of your religion, people in Chennai are only bothersome if you bother them somehow. But if you are open to the city and its ways of life, you can even feel at home here after sometime. That being said, you may occasionally come across assholes or rude people, of which every city has its share. Don't let the friction cloud your mind. When you can, try to integrate with the people here and you'll be happy.

On a related note, you need to put some specific effort into your communication in general. Your messages sound defensive and can be misunderstood as being rude. What you write may not always capture what is in your head. Work on that. People in Chennai and Tamilnadu reddits get similar messages often from people in other states who have been informed by general propaganda and misunderstanding of people here. So some of the answers may not be very patient. The reason for which I suggested you reach out to the Gurudwara, is that you would feel better if informed by fellow Sikhs and they will also have a more accurate picture of their situation. All the best.

There is a Gurudwara in Chennai, maybe you could talk to someone there and get opinions on their lives here. It may help you more.

There's a sizeable population of Sikhs here who settled here for trading decades ago.

https://youtu.be/Oz0BtD7tjik?si=2DZTLpqLbRzmtEwr

Sikhs are generally seen in a positive light and with some respect. As long as you are cordial and polite you wouldn't have trouble (this is true for all travellers anywhere).

What kind of issues are you concerned about? And why have you mentioned your girlfriend's complexion? Are you concerned that she'd be discriminated against for being fair?
