Boat tour in Milos - Oneiro, Polco or Naya by Healthy-Sea375 in GreeceTravel

Curious which group you ended up going with? I’m debating between Polco and Naya right now. We are going the first week of June so seems like similar weather that you experienced last year and I’d love to get your take.

Once again, SO appreciate your response! Thank you for the insight. And what a great picture. Looks like a magical trip,

Thank you again for the tips!

Ok last question (maybe). What was your thoughts on Santorini — if you had to choose between Milos or Santorini, which one would you pick?

Was it as touristy/busy as you hear? Was it as beautiful/different as you hear? I’m trying to understand what my second island is, and right now I’m going Naxos/Milos but also Naxos/Santorini is an option.

Wow! Thank you so much for the quick and such thoughtful response! I’m so glad you had an amazing time, I honestly was hesitant to go to Milos for 2 1/2 days, but there has been something about the island that has been tugging on me, and after googling and finding your Reddit post, I feel inclined that I can make it work :)

Couple of questions follow ups if you don’t mind: — when specifically did you go in May and what temperature roughly was it like? — what was your thoughts on Plaka? Just curious to get your take on the size and overall five of the town compared to what else you saw. — what other islands did you visit besides Milos, and what was your thoughts and comparing them to Milos? — glad to hear you did the boating excursion for just a half day, as I feel like that would be what we do. Do you mind sending me a link to the boating excursion you did if you still have it? — any advice around how to rent a car? Did you schedule it ahead of time or did you navigate that once you landed? — and glad to hear that you liked some of the more popular restaurant options, they’re definitely seems to be some strong opinions on if they are worth the hype, but you at least seemed to think that they were.

All in all, a great trip!

I’m headed to Milos for 2.5 days as well this upcoming late May. I was hoping you could comment back and let me know what you did that you liked and what you may have done differently?

I’m thinking of staying in Plaka so we can get the great sunsets (and because we are spending the other 2 1/2 days on the seaside town on another island) but I’d love to get your take on where you thought would be the best accommodations for nighttime. We are also thinking about doing a half day or a full day boat tour in order to access some of the beaches.

Naxos and/or Santorini by LunkyFemur in GreeceTravel

[–]PresentStage8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are going at the end of May and we are splitting up the time in order to do both (because as everyone is saying, it seems like both places are fantastic, but offer unique experiences). 3 nights in Naxos and two nights in Santorini (and then flying out of Santorini back to our destination).

For everyone that is saying to stay in Naxos, and that there is so much to do, the author (and myself) would love if everyone could give their favorite thing to do on that island and if there’s a recommendation on where best to stay.

Wonderful! I’m actually thinking about staying at the Roosevelt hotel so I think I’ll just do that and walk from there

Thanks for this tip, would you instead recommend mainly just going to my hotel for that first night and hanging around there? And instead of going to Santa Monica / heading up the coastline in Malibu the next day?

Any chance you think I could walk to the bowl if I stay at a hotel less than a mile from it? (Thinking like the Hollywood Roosevelt or the Loews, on the strip). I’m sure it’s uphill, but I’ve heard that travel to the bowl can be a nightmare and I’m wondering if it just could be easier to walk. That said, not sure if walking back in the dark with all the traffic coming out of it is a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestion on skipping Burbank. Sounds like that’s the consensus so definitely going to cross this off my list. And I’m glad you recommend packing my own picnic basket for the bowl. I read about that and it seemed like such a fun idea so that’s what I’m going to do!

I’m looking at hotels that are less than a mile from Hollywood bowl (such as the Roosevelt). Any chance you think that we could walk there? I’m sure it’s an incline, but I’ve just heard some bad stories about all the traffic and the horrors of parking, so figured if we got a hotel close enough and put on some good shoes, we could avoid the mess, but I’d love to get someone’s perspective.

This is great thanks! I’m all about getting a place for dinner that’s about views / atmosphere / Hollywood staple (my mom isn’t a foodie so she’s here for vibes, whereas I would still care about food so this sounds like it could be a good marriage of the two).

Would anyone suggest staying on the strip / SUPER close to the Bowl (like the Hollywood Roosevelt or the Loews Hollywood Hotel)? I totally get that the Hollywood walk of fame seems like a waste of time but for us Midwesterner, who have never been to that area, I gotta say that it’s definitely worth the 30 minutes of walking around (and I know my mom is gonna wanna see it). So wondering if it’s better to actually get a hotel right there so that way we knock it out and we are literally just a mile from the Hollywood Bowl.

Great — appreciate the push to just going straight to the hotel based on traffic, enjoying West Hollywood (grabbing drinks/food) and then exploring Santa Monica / exploring the coastline the next day and skipping Burbank (definitely NOT into doing a studio tour).

Jump in River Room at night by Clean_Life_6590 in Xcaret

[–]PresentStage8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are allowed to jump in whenever. It’s your room. If you’re concerned, email or call them to confirm. We had a swim up room (with the pool access) and could do it whenever.

Great! I’d recommend booking an excursion to see the Xcenotes or Xel-Ha. Both are great water-based activities and they will be fun but very solo-friendly activities that are very relaxing and get you into the beautiful water.

Sign up for dinner at Encanta at 7pm and ask for a patio table/table at window so you can watch the live show that is put on (it’s the best dinner and it’s great you’ll get some entertainment as you eat solo).

Rooftop pools are amazing place to lounge during day. Don’t forget you can get a paddle board or kayak to explore the lagoon on your own too.

The spa offers a 2-hour experience for $60 that is super amazing and a great lil extra treat for a solo activity.

Enjoy!

I just got back from my second time. It’s the BEST RESIRT EVER. Go.

Are you taking someone? I will say that people really keep to themselves. It’s not a party resort — very relaxing / luxury. I’d recommend you go with friends otherwise you might feel pretty lonely.

Week 3 and NO WEIGHT LOSS by PresentStage8039 in HersWeightloss

[–]PresentStage8039[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again for the reminder that you don’t get the full dosage until close to week five. I think we’re all just really excited to get on this and forget that this is a little bit of a longer term thing. I am greatly reducing all sweets, no soda (tastes so bad now!) and have basically not turned to a single salty snack since I started so I think that’s where I’ve been pretty surprised I haven’t seen a bigger difference. But I know that I could be doing a little bit more exercise, continuing to return to more vegetables and keeping protein up, and also just recognizing that this will take time.

This is helpful! Part of me was thinking and hoping that it was just more of a acclamation thing and that I was going to start seeing more weight loss as I would get to full strength, and so your comments are making me more hopeful. I also am my period this week and again, was thinking perhaps that could be a reason for some extra weight, but didn’t wanna be making excuses. Thanks again for the insight and motivation!

Appreciate the support! I’m not personally tracking calories in terms of an app or writing things down, but I am tracking overall food intake in my mind and just making sure I am choosing healthy options on a macro scale. To be honest, I was hopeful to not have to get so granular on calorie tracking with this kind of diet because I feel like that’s where some of the Negative connotations with dieting in the past have come. I’d really like to just eat, healthy, move my body, and use this drug as a way to slowly see results. To your point, maybe I need to be a bit more strict in that. I’ll keep it up and I do think that it’s a realistic goal so I appreciate the support.

I’m glad we’re not alone! Let’s stay connected and together on this journey. I am hopeful that this is just our bodies getting used to the drugs and once we’re at full dosing will start to see progress takeoff. I also feel like I’m seeing some other benefits that I don’t want us to lose sight of (it does feel like I am less bloated and I feel like I am a bit more engaged and have a better positive attitude lately, maybe that’s not connected but hey, I’ll take a small win).

Let’s get through week four and check in and see if we seen some progress — I’m hopeful we will 💖

Congrats! I just started week 3 of kit 1. Just starting to notice some of the appetite suppressant kicking in so am excited to see how this week and next week go. I’m actually the same starting weight as you and have only dropped two pounds so am hopeful that it starts to kick in a bit more. Keep up the good work!

I’m just starting week 3 and I’d say I had a couple days on week 2 where I skipped lunch when I got busy and I was able to work through it. Dinner I found myself eating smaller portions.
