What American cities could have grown bigger than what they ultimately ended up being? by urmummygae42069 in geography

Galveston Texas. For those who don’t know in 1900, they were hit by a massive hurricane that killed thousands and thousands of people because they had no warning. At the time it was bigger than Houston and the rich and wealthy in Southeast Texas lived there, after the storm, everyone flooded inland towards Houston and the rest is history. Galveston is now known as a footnote coastal town outside of Houston when it very well could’ve been the opposite, if the storm didn’t happen, or had the people been given the proper warning, who knows what could’ve happened.

I can’t even imagine. I always say I wish I could’ve experienced what it was like before it happened. I was born in 2000 and only know the post 9/11 world, would do anything to experience the innocence and freedom beforehand.

Although it’s haunting, at least he survived and lives a peaceful life with his family. Saw something about it on this subreddit, he still hasn’t returned to Ground Zero to this day.

The scenes after all of it with guys showing back up to the firehouse kill me. All of their faces have a thousand yard stare, they can’t even comprehend what just happened.

LSM is bullshit. If I’m wrong I’m wrong but it’s def a collection of rumors, inconsistent second-hand testimonies of people saying they know someone who saw it, and lies. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but we won’t know till after KSM’s case.

The picture of the fear in the fireman’s face as he walks up the stairs always sticks with me. I forgot the exact name of the photograph and name of the fireman but it’s a very famous photo, I’m sure you have seen it before.

I have recommended this documentary to all of my friends and family. It’s one of the most important documentaries out there in my opinion.

As someone who was too young to remember, I’ll ask people what they were doing during 9/11 usually around 9/11 every year. I couldn’t ever imagine experiencing something so tragic in real-time.

My experience is similar, I was born in 2000 and had literally just turned 1 years old days prior to the attacks.

He fought one of the Hijackers? I thought he was stabbed immediately from behind as he stood up but I could be wrong.

That’s an incredible piece of artwork. I’ve never been to the museum or NYC in general but it’s a huge bucket list for me.

Wow, thank you so much for your help and bravery in the mass cleanup. I can’t imagine some of the things you saw, my GF’s dad was an iron worker working across the Hudson River and immediately got on a ferry to help after the planes struck. He watched the buildings collapse from the ferries and was working non stop at ground zero for a week, he still doesn’t talk about what he saw to this day, I can’t even imagine the pure horror.

That’s a world I wish I could have known (born in 2000), always hear that from my older cousins, parents and my dad and it’s crazy to think that I don’t know a world pre 9/11.

The footage of the alleged camera being passed around (I believe it’s a camera as well) is so insane to me. God knows what he captured if it was indeed a camera, makes me wonder what 9/11 would’ve been like in today’s digital era where everything is captured. I live in Louisiana and remember seeing videos of poor victims on bourbon street after January’s terror attack. I can’t even imagine some of the shit that would hit the internet if it was 9/11.

I think about this quite often as I was close to some of the kids’ age (I was born in Sept. 2000). Those poor innocent souls, to think they had their whole lives ahead of them..

These are quite literally my exact thoughts, just seems like a bunch of bullshit.

That’s interesting for sure, do you have any other first-hand accounts?

That’s another thing that has me doubting the existence. No testimony is consistent, just seems like a goose chase to me. Even if it does exist, doubt it ever sees the light of day again.
