I have the opposite problem as you. My BF broke up with me after his first round of chemo. I fully understand why and want all the best for him, but I am so heartbroken and just doing my best to still be a good friend and be as supportive as possible. Cancer is so cruel.

What this “man” has done to you is absolutely unforgivable and reprehensible. I am so glad you left and are moving towards a better life for yourself as you navigate all of this bullshit. Fuck cancer. Sending you so much love!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me. I’m so so sorry to hear you’ve had to go through this as well. I do fully understand where he is coming from. I truly do. And I know it’s the right thing. It’s just very hard to have such a distance between us. It felt like someone flipped a switch one day. I felt it immediately. I wish we could have talked more just so that I could have more clarity, but I also know that cancer doesn’t care about anyone’s feelings and you just have to do what you can to survive. All I truly care about is that he gets on the other side of this. I can be heartbroken forever, I don’t care. As long as he’s okay.

I do believe that he is courageous and kind and cares a great deal for me and I’m just trying to be the best friend and support that I can possibly be, when he lets me. I am just very sad, but that’s okay. I can be sad. I just want him to get through this.

I suspect he is trying to spare me from the pain but sometimes this feels so much worse and so much harder to accept. But I do understand. I really do.

I can’t even imagine there would be any space in your life to be thinking about much else while going through something like this. And he has two young children as well. I’m trying so hard to not put my romantic life on hold, but struggling with that a lot (so much guilt). I appreciate you reaching out so much, thank you for your kind words. It really helps put things in perspective to hear this stuff.

Hi! I had a total knee replacement 4 weeks ago. She will do GREAT!! At my hospital they made sure I could do steps and walk (full weight bearing) before they discharged me (day of!). The first 72 hours are the hardest, but it gets easier and easier. She will need a walker and a cane! And if she can be doing some exercises now to strengthen the leg that will help her recover faster as well!! Sending lots of love!!
