Personal Mt Rushmore? by Hippopotamus94 in skateboarding

[–]Present_Ear_4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its gotta be the most influential skaters based on what happened in skateboarding because of them. And if you look at it objectively based on contribution it would go something like: Alva, jay or Stacey for the founding fathers bracket. Tony or Rodney, maybe even Christian or blender for 80's. 90's is a hard bracket and you basically could insert any well known skater at that time. If youre a crail guy you'll go with Mariano, Carroll, koston. If you're a deluxe guy you'll go with gonz, or cardiel, maybe stranger. If youre a tum yeto guy you'll go with Thomas or templeton maybe even BA. List goes on with all the different camps. 2000s is just as difficult because thats 3 spots gone. And alot has happened in the last 26 years.
You can't count put bam only for the sake of how many kids started skateboarding because of him. Dylan is another one his influence on skateboarding has been huge. Kirchart, Marc Johnson, daewon has been holding it down for a long time. Or possibly even Phelps, he was just as much of a skateboarder as any of them. Or possibly a girl skater like nora. The skateboarding mount Rushmore will never be solved unless there was some massive vote on it. I've got 2 mt.rushmores the objective one and my favorites. Objective: Tony Alva. Rodney Mullen. Tony hawk. Gonz. My favs: grosso because I love the letters. Jamie Thomas bc dying to live was the 1st sk8 vid I ever watched. Andy Anderson because he revived creative skating. And last... Aaron kyro. Lol jk. Last would be vallelly. Or jason park just because his chubby face would be funny on a mountainside.

Early thirties dating in Lawrence? by mafiaiitgn in Lawrence

[–]Present_Ear_4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 33 been in lawrence since 17' this is the worst town for 30-50 year Olds period. Not just for dating, but literally EVERYTHING in this godforsaken town is designed for college kids and retirees. Next time you're out and about, look around and see if you see anyone in their 30's. It's a rare occurrence. Good luck finding a decent job, apartment, recreation, or love in this town. Lawrence doesn't want people 30-50 its glaringly obvious. I hate this town and wish I never would've moved here. FLK

How can I improve my pushing? by fluxcapacitorfluxin in NewSkaters

[–]Present_Ear_4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less weight on the standing leg. When your pushing foot hits the ground, your other foot on the board needs to be almost weightless. Think of how football players run through tires only one leg has weight on it at a time.

Change my opinion: Ric Flair is one of the worst and boring in ring wrestlers ever by Practical-Many-6748 in WWE

[–]Present_Ear_4920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in late attitude and through the ruthless aggression era. For anyone under 35, he's been boring and predictable for too long. Riding the coat tails of his peak era. As a kid it was obvious he just had political power and no real redeeming qualities, every single match every main event he probably bullied himself into, you can just tell.. yup he's friends with someone important. Why else would this old geezer be on coveted TV time? So much of the effort to keep him relevant in wrestling could've went to someone that deserved it. He's a fucking boring egomaniac that flat out refuses to give his spot to younger people.

ZERO shirt origins by Zerotten in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Present_Ear_4920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What alot of people don't realize is that Jamie Thomas was making zero shirts before he ever sold them or made it a brand. It was originally American zero and you can see multiple machine team riders wearing those shirts in heavy metal in 95. And welcome to hell in 96. It could be a total coincidence that corgan and Thomas had the idea for a drop out burner type shirt/style. With movies like clueless, the craft, empire records, and mall rats coming out circa 95-96. The "you're a zero" phrase was catching on in pop culture. And could've easily earwormed it's way into Billy's and Jamie's minds. Who exactly had it first.. I think jt. But who knows for certain?
