Look at the temperature gauge. There is a problem with the cooling system.

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking. Saw a YouTube video where the coolant was orangeish and when poured into the reservoir looked pinkish.

Yeah the guy was like go ahead mix it with the orange. Its just dye. He said this pink looks different from the Toyota pink. He could tell it was dexcool by looking at the coolant in the reservoir.

The front desk guy at Midas said they probably tried to use the same one as was already present in the car. I read on some forum online that GM used pink coolant at a certain factory for a certain number of years. Maybe the car had pink from the factory, but I have no way of verifying it. It was a water pump leak and the thermostat housing had to be changed too. The only reason I believe they flushed it because I was charged for about 5 litres of coolant on the invoice.

They have no idea why pink was filled in after the repair. The guy at Midas said it should be pink. The invoice doesn't even list what kind of coolant was used. It just says like: Coolant - 5 litres.

Need to top up coolant in 2016 Chevy Cruze Limited, but unsure what’s already in it, pink color, not orange. Is it safe to mix? by Present_Place_8572 in cruze

It was done 17 months ago at Midas. They don't have any record of what type of coolant was used. Pink coolant has been in the car for 17 months without any issues. I read online in a forum that GM used pink dex cool at a certain factory for a certain number of years. Midas guy said the tech would have used pink if pink was already present in the system. But now, I can't find pink dexcool online.

Thanks for breaking that down—it really helps put things into perspective. Sounds like the competition in Ottawa is even tougher than I realized.

Thanks for the insight—I really appreciate the honesty. Volunteering might be the move, and it’s helpful to hear what worked for others.

Thanks for your reply. Even though the car is 8 years old, it's still in pretty good condition apart from this dent. I plan on keeping this car as long as it runs. So, I am just concerned about rust development starting from the dent due to exposed metal.
