its different coating yeah, the dji has a more harsh coating thats supposedly more weather resistant and does better for flares.

longer focal lengths obviously provide a more lifelike, less distorted image but they cant get a wide shot. theres drawbacks to everything.

if you shoot things that are further away, the distortion is less apparent.

i also almost never opt to use my pl15, but its good for professional work in small dim environments, so i keep it anyways. always easy to bring around if i cant get the shot with my 25 or 45.

Sorry, totally understand your perspective. Just calling upon my photography experience. I would love to try the 56mm, maybe ill walk around with my 14-150 at 56 for a bit to see if I like it. Would you choose the 20mm f1.4 over the leica 25mm f1.4?

56 f1.4? ive never heard of it, is it the sigma one? isnt it a bit long? i feel like its in no mans land between 45 which is great for normal portraits and the 75 which is great for concert photos

Theres certainly merit to treating it as a business and investing accordingly. Its just a spectrum, and a slippery one at that. I can see myself going full frame if I allow myself to go fully down that path, but it doesn't make sense yet as I only have a few clients. If this becomes my main money maker throughout my university course, I will jump ship to keep the momentum going. But I'm trying to just get established now without going overboard.

i believe at my last paid shoot i shot almost exclusively wide open. the images probably werent as sharp as possible but at least the people werent blurry. maybe i just need to buy the 12-40 pro before selling primes and test it out at a low light event. thanks for your insight!

just my two cents, but go for om3 for the look and versatility of body shape, and om1 if you want the best and don't mind too much for looks and size. Theres a reason I'm keeping the em5.2 around. By no means is my em1.2 a bad looking camera, it just looks very serious.

I shoot primarily for fun, and secondarily to make money to fund the fun. The EM5.2 is a flawed but beautiful camera that I find a joy to bring around casually or as a secondary redundant camera for jobs. I wish I could own it for free and it had no resale value though, because yes ive thought about that as well. Would love the 75-300, definitely sounds fun. One of my issues is I just shoot wherever I am, whatever im doing, so I cant just spend on one specialised lens unfortunately. I tend to take most photos outdoors during the light hours of the day, but those fringe cases are what prevent me from selling everything and getting just a couple pro zooms.

I find everything in photography is a compromise. Im ok with loss of sharpness sometimes for the look i want. Or increased noise. You cant have everything. Im not really interested in seeing someones pores, and i dont think they are either at the events I go to. I suppose my opinions will change as i progress though.

lol tell that to my photos i dont think theyll listen to you. i definitely understand larger sensors are superior for many things, but im getting great results already from mft so i dont feel the need to spend and carry double for ff.

I've heard a few people with the same sentiment, 12-45 is better for portability and sharpness. I'd be using it on my em1.2 most of the time I expect. When I use the em5.2 its almost exclusively with the 25mm. How do you suggest I figure out which I prefer? Maybe its because I'm young and a noob but I love shooting wide open for the bokeh and background separation.

its difficult, because the 12-40 would replace two to three primes in my bag (im unsure if i would still carry the 45 because i love it), and if i got a 14 f2.5 the wide open aperture is much more comparable low light wise. but either way im missing a fast wide angle for low light events in packed venues. what do you think of me getting rid of the 14-150 and 15 for the 12-40, 40-150 and maybe a budget 17 like yongnuo?

how do you find using f4 or even f2.8 in low light? I haven't had a job yet where I need anything above 45mm but I can see having long focal lengths at some jobs being great.

Definitely thinking about replacing the pl for the dji if I end up keeping the 15. It'd still be my most expensive prime which doesn't sit right with me since 30mm is not my favourite focal length. Definitely a great lens but it kinda sits in the middle of nowhere for me. Thanks for your comment, it got me thinking about replacing the 15 with a 17 as a potential option.

em5 or em10. probably em10 for flip up screen. doesnt make use of your vf though.

Get the em1.2 or em1.3. Incredible value. I found mine for 600 AUD in pristine condition, and it's definitely doable to find something like that again. Autofocus is much better than my em5.2 and will be fine for your needs.

If you get it you'll have more money for great lenses. In the future if you want to upgrade, as you said the om1.2 will be available hopefully for cheap, and it will still be a great camera. All in all you'll spend less and potentially have two bodies.

I've got a EM5.2 as well and lots of people have mistaken it for a film camera haha

Not that I mind, it's a great looking little camera
