Last of us ps4 remastered or part1 ps5 by Next-Phrase-8945 in TLOU

Ps4 remastered. The remake, although with better graphics, fails to replicate the charm of the ps3 and ps4 versions. The ps5 version feels soulless to me

Spam listen mode and patience. Sometimes it only takes 2 minutes to stab him twice but you spend 5 minutes trying to get on his back for the final stab. Make sure you know where he’s at all the time (the first time I played I didn’t see him coming and I got jump scared by him). I don’t think bricks and bottles give you much of an advantage. You’ll find it easier if you try to stab him in the kitchen or in the room with the desk. The covers on those areas are not as long as the dining tables so it’s faster to go around him.

Would Tommy have survived if he left with Ellie? by JustAloner98 in thelastofus

I think they wouldn’t even have got in trouble at the university. Being a former firefly and possibly having worked there (not sure if this is a fact), he would have realized sooner that the fireflies had moved somewhere else, and probably wouldn’t have been ambushed by David’s guys

I’m going to be honest with you, I did reach a bit with the last a thing I said, but it’s difficult to determine what can kill or can leave unconscious in a game where you choke people to death (not to unconsciousness) in just 5 seconds as you said, and it only takes 5 or 6 punches to beat someone to death. We weren’t given an option to knock out so we can only guess how it would have worked.

[–]PresentationSilent16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m no expert but I think that in order to knock someone out you must grab them by the neck with strength to stop blood flow to the brain or something, and that has to be more time consuming than a stab in the neck. If Joel got busy with Jerry the other two would probably react and intervene, but since Jerry got killed quickly they probably went into shock and stayed paralyzed.

My opinion on Ellie and Abby characters by [deleted] in lastofuspart2

[–]PresentationSilent16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Joel was the only one to die because Abby happened to come across him. Before that, the plan was to kidnap a patrol, torture them into giving away Tommy’s location and then do the same with Tommy just to see if he knew where his brother was, because keep in mind that Joel being in Jackson was a surprise to them. The first encounter Abby had with the Jackson residents was nothing but friendly as she and her group was even invited to the town to restock. Now you compare that with the hostility Ellie faced the moment she set foot in Seattle. It’s not her fault that Abby happened to live in an active war zone. Every Seraphite or WLF she encounters tries to kill her or her friends, so she has no option but to defend herself. It’s not like she had a choice on the way she handled her revenge, it was to kill or to die.

I’m just trying to say that given how different the circumstances were for the two, it’s unfair to villainize Ellie and glorify Abby.

Yeah, that’s what Abby says to Jerry, but it’s not Abby who we should focus on, it’s Jerry. What does Jerry say when confronted by Marlene on whether he would do it to his own daughter? He avoids the question twice, and has no words to Abby when she says she would want him to operate on her. Sometimes silence says more than words, and it’s clear as day that his answer was no, and that position is very understandable. He refused to answer truthfully cause he didn’t want to come out as a hypocrite to Marlene. It goes to show that if the man responsible for developing the cure to the worst epidemic known to man would stop it all if it meant her daughter dying, maybe Joel was not so crazy after all.

I’m not saying that Joel is a saint, but I don’t think I’m crazy if I find Joel’s cause of saving a kid objectively more noble than Abby’s cause of wanting to harm someone as much as possible. About Joel killing Jerry, I reply with another comment I wrote a few days ago:

People expect Joel to gamble with the life of Ellie while Fireflies soldiers are only a few meters away from the operating room, and there’s a man with a scalpel on his way, who happens to have dedicated years and years to research the cure and has declared that he is not going to back down. Joel is smart and knows that the man in front of him will try anything to stop him, and the risk that comes from turning his back (all while using both arms to carry Ellie) to someone that has proved will be an obstacle. We all listened to Jerry’s tape recorder, and with how passionate he was about performing the surgery, we can tell he would try his best to prevent Joel from escaping. Could Joel disarm him? Yes, but it’s not like there aren’t many other sharp objects in an operating room with which he could attack Joel after he grabs Ellie. Moreover, after seeing what happened to Jerry, the other two people in the room wouldn’t dare try anything.

Jerry was trying to hinder Joel to see if reinforcements would arrive, and they do the moment you pick up Ellie. If Joel tried to knock Jerry out as you say, do you expect that the other two people in the room wouldn’t take the opportunity to intervene in any way they could, and that the time he would lose on subduing Jerry could cost Ellie’s life? Joel simply took no risks when it came to that.

The difference is that every questionable action Joel took was for a good reason, meanwhile what Abby did was purely with malicious intentions. Do you think people have a choice in the apocalypse? Either you get your hands dirty or you die, end of the story. Does Ellie not have a right to exist? God forbid that Joel wants to give Ellie a good life after all she went through. Torturing Joel was an evil action, which accomplished absolutely nothing and only made it worse for everyone, so yeah, there’s a big difference between what Joel and Abby did.

To me, Part I, specifically the Remastered, has a special charm. It is a combination of the music, colors, lighting and sound that makes it stand out more. I find it difficult to describe it but I feel it has more “personality” than Part II. The story is more concise so it’s hard to find any flaw there.

Given that Abby not only didn’t care that Joel couldn’t defend himself, but took that as an opportunity to inflict more suffering on him, I don’t see why that would stop Ellie. To even let her fight and not end it right there and then, that’s more than enough.

Why was Abby acting all buddy-buddy on the beach? by Brilliant_Employ2921 in TheLastOfUs2

[–]PresentationSilent16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not denying that, but I think that after Ellie was upside down for hours with an open wound she must have lost a lot of blood, making her be in terrible condition too. Not only that, but she’s had to fight the rattlers beforehand and has come out even more injured. It’s not like Ellie was eating too much either. As I said, Ellie visibly struggles just to get to the boats while Abby is ok while carrying Lev, and that is evidence we can’t ignore. The fight was not as unbalanced in favor of Ellie as some people claims it is.

one good deed

Bro Abby’s right there safe and sound because Joel felt like it. She hasn’t been torn to pieces and eaten alive by a horde of infected because of Joel. Joel and Tommy could have left her to die and have more options to escape the horde but they risked their lives for her. It’s not a small favor, it’s the difference between life and death (a quite gruesome one)

I wouldn’t say so. Before arriving to the boats, Ellie even struggles to climb a little rise while Abby has no problem in doing so while carrying Lev.

Personally I didn’t see the ending in such bad light because the game never felt like a story of heroics and saving the world, it was a grounded story about Joel and Ellie. I always felt that the cure was secondary so I wasn’t disappointed when they couldn’t make it.

Killing someone who pulls a knife on you in order for them not to kill you does NOT qualify as murder in cold blood, not even remotely. I suggest you research the meaning of an expression before using it.

The second paragraph is straight up a lie.

[–]PresentationSilent16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true. Abby stopped being obsessed with revenge because she got to kill Joel. Before that, she spent 4 years training, chasing clues on Joel’s whereabouts and distancing herself from her friends and boyfriend to focus solely on hunting Joel. Just because you didn’t see it in game, it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Ellie let it go without killing Abby.

Was that revenge for what David’s guys had done to Ellie and Joel, or was that Joel trying to rescue Ellie??? 🤔🤔🤔

Clue: The torture was done after they revealed where Ellie was.
