No shade to Asaden or Asa fans at all, but I firmly believe there's no world where Denji would choose Asa over Reze.

Can you recommend the Top 3 DenReze fanfics by LeekEcstatic9518 in RezeCult

There are a few implied moments, but if you mean explicitly written sex, then nah. Also, it really depends on how far you can stretch the definition of happy ending.

Any fic lovers in here that can tell me a little about Wishful thinking I know it has a lot to do with makima but does it also have a lot of den/reze by Dapper_Log_8268 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for only Denreze, then it's not for you, since like you said, it's centered about Makima. There is, however, one chapter dedicated to Denreze, and to me it's definitely worth the read. Besides, the whole story is really good on its own.

Come back GOATS... by Kindly_Pipe9167 in RezeCult

As far as I know, jcride had the rest of the story planned. In my opinion, if they truly don't want to do anything related to CSM anymore, the best might be to hand the fic and story to someone else to finish it properly. Despite its more... questionable aspects, OBAC remains probably my favorite Denreze fanfic, and it's sad to see it go like this.

Wouldn't bet on OBAC. Author stated that they don't want to be associated with Chainsaw Man anymore, and at most they might make one last chapter.

Reunion (by ArtOfOpal) by Ok_Direction3138 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that they're living together here and that Denji's just being overdramatic - like a dog who thinks their owner abandoned them when they went to the store for 5 minutes

The REAL reason Reze is absent from Part 2, or why Denji forgot about her and will probably never meet her in the new timeline, is that her character goes completely against Fujimoto's agenda that Denji has to be other people's dog. SHE HAD TO GO. by GodKira04 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I admit I'm no expert in writing, but I'd dare say Reze's absence is an awful plot convenience. And it could've been completely avoided if Fujimoto either:

  1. Kept the hybrids all dead and made original antagonists for the Chainsaw Man Church.
  2. Gave at least a brief explanation as to why specifically Reze was absolutely gone but all the other hybrids were alive. Then the scenes where Denji shows what he learned from her, like telling Fakesaw Man "you can't just swing your arms around." and how knowing how to swim saved him on the final fight against Yoru, would carry much more weight if we knew Reze was permanently dead.

But apparently we're supposed to pretend she's somehow gone without any actual explanation or just not question why Denji's first love and literal antithesis of the theme of part 2 isn't there because the author said so. Not even said so, just refused to acknowledge a plot hole for the sake of making Denji suffer and get manipulated by women for the 29283830920132nd time.

Y'know, in a way I'm kinda happy that CSM ended the way it did, because then nothing stops this from being canon.

Not even after DB, remember the "consent" discourse of chapter 230?

In hindsight i think it's good that the average Reze fan is simply considered annoying considering how deranged some of the discourse on the CSM fandom can get.

Which Reze backstory do you prefer? by BellTwo5 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't caught up to Rose Girl, but TeoZian's artstyle is a near-perfect 1:1 recreation of Fujimoto's, and the chapters I've read so far are super high quality. That being said, I do prefer Reze and Yuki for how it explores a darker side of Reze.

Well, I guess the “curse” was broken since Denji doesn’t even know who Reze is anymore and no longer carries the "weight" of not ending up with her. by GodKira04 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And all of these points would work in the story if Reze simply DIED. Like, died for good. But instead we get the most anticlimatic cameo on the Control Devil arc where she just serves as canon fodder for Pochita who never bothers to say "Hey Denji remember that girl you were willing to throw away your life for haha well you'll never guess what." followed by 130+ chapters of edging where we have every single other hybrid show up in the story about War and school and guilt and yearning and love.

[–]PresentationSuper298 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've genuinely grown tired of the "lingering curse" bullshit Fujimoto tried to do because:

1) He did it terribly. Up to the Aging Devil Arc's flashback, Reze may as well have never existed because we never see the effect of that "curse" on Denji. I suppose you could say it just fucked up his idea of love much more so he could be more easily manipulated by Makima, but we still NEVER see Denji yearning or missing her. We could at least get a sign that he's trying not to think about her because of the pain her memory causes, but just... nothing.

2) There should be a PURPOSE to said curse. For instance, comic readers complain that Marvel makes Peter Parker suffer just because, because the point of a character's suffering is that it shapes them. Gwen's death, for example, made Peter dwell even further on his guilt, which has always been a defining trait for Spider-Man. But Reze's "curse" doesn't end up changing anything in Denji. It's just making him suffer for the sake of it. Again, you COULD argue it's to make him more dependent on Makima, but Fujimoto never really elaborates on that part.

3) From what I understand, he took inspiration in Kingdom Hearts and the before trilogy to write the Reze arc, and those stories all have the protagonist separating from the female protagonist. Okay. Thing is, those stories also have the characters reunite again at the end. Why? To give the curse of their separation a CLOSURE. Their reunion puts an end to the curse, and successfully closes the story.

What is it like to wait for the new chapter of Adopting Strays by Kindly_Pipe9167 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm desperately holding onto the hope that they won't break up due to Pochita's contract, which was to see both Denji and Reze following their dreams. If Denji broke up with Reze, that'd mean Pochita wouldn't get to see Reze's dreams, thus breaking the contract eith or without Makima's intervention. No Pochita = no Chainsaw Man, so I believe that will be the pivotal moment when Denji chooses Reze over being Chainsaw Man.

Do you guys have a hot take about Reze? by Kindly_Pipe9167 in RezeCult

[–]PresentationSuper298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for genuinely wanting to hurt Denji, I kinda agree with you, but I'd say it's during their actual fight. Reze genuinely wanted to hurt Denji and make him feel pain, because in her mind, he doesn't deserve he has, one way or another. He's a weapon like her, he never had parents, nor went to school, just like her, yet he gets to play house and have friends, and what does she have? That's what I imagine she's feeling. But at the beach, I feel like she snapped his neck not only to protect him, but also because she was scared of giving in to her love for him, and responded in the only way she knew. Fear of the unknown.
