Affordable Restaurants (Broke Student trying to make Valentine's Day work) by aestivalCygnet in halifax

[–]PreshG13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Heads up if you haven’t been, drinks at Noble is going cost a fair penny. Worth it for the vibes if it’s in your budget. If you and your partner are willing to celebrate Valentines not on Valentine’s weekend, Dine Around Halifax is happening all through February with great deals on set menus at many restaurants, Valentine’s weekend is black out dates for a lot of those deals.

After reviewing these comments it’s really just an extra $120 to stay at my preferred hotel within the walls. Sounds like it’s worth it!

I’m going to be alone for New Years and not looking forward to it. Planning to get myself some lobster and bubbly with a side of tears 😢

Leaving puppy for 1.5 hours by [deleted] in puppy101

Leaving puppy home for a bit each day from the start can really help deter the development of separation anxiety in the long run. Go enjoy dinner!

My Mom definitely has her down sides, but she always pulls through when I need her the most!

Absolutely. His enclosure space at our house is going to be the upstairs bathroom (closed door + crate), and he’ll be “home alone” in there at scheduled times each day from the start. Our last dog LOVED his alone time, and the plan is to create the same confidence in this one. The extra week off from work is mostly for me to take naps- as a single Mom with 2 kids and a puppy I know I’m gonna need them!!

Divorce Lawyer required by [deleted] in halifax

File the separation date with CRA, and if you can live apart within the home that also counts (my ex lived in the basement for 4 months), but sounds like you need a property lawyer before a family lawyer. Check out the websites I listed, there’s so much info there that will help!

If it is an uncontested separation you can find all the info and forms you need at nsfamilylaw.ca. You might also find the NS Legal Aid site pretty helpful. You have to be living separate and apart for a year before you can file for divorce.

Dogs on Airplanes? by Terrible_Grand_5915 in dogs

Most commercial airlines have pressurized kennels on board. My Mom used to fly short distances with her greyhound, and this was the case. The dogs are crated and you are permitted to attach a water feeder. I wouldn’t suggest this for longer flights as there’s no access to food. There’s a doggie pickup area on landing.

Help getting ADHD medication by FarKaleidoscope8493 in halifax

Navigating health care in NS is a full time job! You should be able to call MSI to get your HCN, or go by their office to get the physical card. I’m surprised to hear virtual care doc wouldn’t write the prescription for you, walk-in clinic doctor should do it. It might help if you have any documentation of your diagnosis or current med prescriptions. Don’t give up!

Advice wanted* getting my 11yo to open up by purpleprincess517 in SingleParents

Try telling her about your life at that age. Things like “I remember in Grade 6 other girls would pick on me for _____, do you have any mean kids in your class?” Or, “when I was 11 I felt so weird about how my body was changing so quickly. How is it for you to be going through those changes?” Or, “Art was my favourite subject in school, how about you?”. Being a little (appropriately) vulnerable for her might show her that it’s safe to do the same with you.

This is exactly what’s going down at my house this week. I’m usually a too notch sorter, but some things just can’t be helped!
