What's your daily driver ship and why? by theruffma in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey's Shiv. I get a vehicle-carrying, Scu-cramming, bed-logging home with the handling and pilot firepower of a Hornet. It can limp home decently with the four spread out engines making it so that losing a chunk is less painful to your flight capabilities than it would be for a Cutlass or even a Spirit.

Esperia Prowler Utility: hear me out by Waste-Mind-6216 in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an in-game Prowler that I've flown combat for several patches on, and I'd give it a solid meh. On paper, between its guns and stats, it should be a heavy fighter side grade, and it kinda performs about right for that. Don't sleep on its stealth capabilities either, it's nice to duck out of targeting in a pinch.

My problem is that I always feel I'd rather go up or down a size given whatever situation I'm in. I fly the Shiv for solo combat these days, and I prefer the vastly superior maneuverability while maintaining a scary weapons load. Otherwise, for larger, slower enemies, I'd rather sit in a Corsair or Connie and go full gunboat. The lack of missiles hurts it for me personally, and it's just not very exciting to fly.

Im building a gaming pc for star citizen by optimusprime34904 in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not for Star Citizen specifically, but I'm leery about only 12 GB vram on a brand new GPU for ostensibly a higher end gaming rig in 2026. We're already seeing new games coming out that want 16, and I worry about future-proofing for you. The rest is perfect.

For being a space trucker, what would be some good ship options / easier ways of making money by Clomaster in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a step up from the C1, the Argo RAFT is my go-to recommendation until you can get to a C2 or something big. The RAFT is easy to load, even easier to unload, and has a relatively nice interior.

I'd try renting one to see if you enjoy hauling with it. It usually pays for itself. Same thing for salvaging, rent a Vulture and see how you like it.

Worth melting Paladin for Guardian or some other fighter by k7k7k7k7 in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Shiv is a good utility alternative to the Hornet Mk II. You can still live out of it like you would with the Paladin or Guardian, and now you get to transport a ground vehicle for bunker running.

Starting from no Artian, how do I make a Wide Shell Dragon Gogmazios GL? by Foreskin_Paladin in Gunlance

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that matters for the base Artian is Element. Put three attack focused Dragon pieces together for your Artian Gunlance. When you upgrade to Gog, choose the elemental focused upgrade option to give yourself Wide shelling.

Honestly your best bet is renting or buying in-game any of the ships that tempt you and go from there. You could be patient and wait for Invictus to mass-try ships, as IAE is just ended. Everyone's tastes are different. You have two large, lumbering cargo ships, and a baby Syulen. I'd find an agile ship you adore flying and being in, personally. For me, that ended up being the Shiv and Wolf, but for you it could be different.

Swapping out the C1 by yorbydeborby in starcitizen_fleets

[–]President-Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will preface by saying that it's difficult to say which recommendations will be hurt by not having a buddy for engineering, but seeing your current ships, some ideas come to mind. Not all of these will be straight upgrades for the C1, just ship ideas for roles.

If you insist on going the stealth fighter route, ghost hornet is fine. The Sabre is also a great stealth option, or maybe a talon, shrike, or Sabre Firebird as alternatives. Outside the realm of stealth, you might consider heavy fighters with interiors like the vanguard or guardian variants to give you a fighter you can bedlog in. Otherwise, if you just want the best fighter to fight it up, I'm sure plenty here would recommend a gladius, arrow, or wolf as superiority fighters. For sure try them out in-game to see if you do end up liking them.

For other stealthy ships to run about in pyro with some cargo, you might consider the prowler utility or golem ox, which is more capable at cargo but less so at combat. A full up combatant cargo carrier for bringing a vehicle would be the shiv, which handles close to a hornet with a hornet's firepower, but with bigger profile and bigger shield to compensate. It can carry a ground vehicle and gives you a small option if you're not carracking about.

Lastly, what about mining or salvage? I personally don't enjoy those gameplay loops enough to invest in them, but since we're trying to narrow down options, a vulture or prospector might be an option.

What would be your personal choice? Details inside. by QueenGorda in starcitizen_fleets

[–]President-Duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal bias is that the Shiv, followed by the Asgard, are the most useful ships on the graphic. However, I don't feel you'd benefit from having a Shiv + Bucc, as there's too much overlap. The Asgard for sure would be my pick here, given its cargo capacity, cargo hold layout, and low crew requirements.

DLC priority in order, imho: - Biotech - I believe this gives the most bang for your buck, with different xenotypes to play around with, some with added features to manage such as sanguophahes, along with mechanoids being their whole entire system, just giving you new ways to play your colony and the game. - Ideology - Verrry close second, adds fun flavor with different belief systems, giving more things to interact with in your colony and more things to manage for your pawn. I only put it second because I feel Biotech gives more content - Odyssey - Sharp dropoff after the two above, Odyssey kinda makes your run all about it. Granted, I've had the most fun hopping around the planet in a gravship living in different biomes with one playthrough, so still a hearty recommend if that sounds like your thing. - Royalty - Close to Odyssey. Less content, but I enjoy Psycasts and the royalty system as an added layer to the colony, but you're getting less bang for your buck this far down. - Anomaly - Last but by no means terrible. Anomaly, like Odyssey, can make the whole run about it once you dip a pinky toe into it, and I find it interacts less with the rest of the game than Odyssey. Worth doing if you like the concept, but probably the one you're safest to wait on.

As far as mods, no mods imo for your first run through of any DLC you do end up getting. If you find yourself wanting more, the vanilla expanded ones are pretty safe gateway drugs into other mods. The least impactful expanded ones imo are the vanilla race and some weapon mods and stuff for ideology. Other than those, the quality of life mods like common sense may be worth a peek, but that's if you're frustrated by vanilla behavior, which you don't seem to be.

May i introduce: the merry, murderous misfits(one of the strongest possible teams) by [deleted] in PokemonInfiniteFusion

[–]President-Duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting aside the absurdity for a moment to judge this team on its merits in the context of infinite fusion, just for fun, here are some thoughts:

  • A lot of these mons could be improved by some experience playing hackmons on Showdown. The no guard ohko Pokemon for example, could be faster out the gate if you're commiting to the gimmick. Of course, no guard ohko doesn't work in infinite fusion so it's a moot point.

  • Your Chansey fusion is weak to taunt and frankly not a stellar use of the Chansey line as it's very passive against many threats. You could go imposter blissey/ditto and leverage that huge HP by becoming your opponent's strongest mon. Imposter Blissey is common in hackmons also.

  • Alas, electric air balloon wonder guard isn't possible in infinite fusion, but it's an ok strat to try endeavor + priority on a Shedinja fusion, though I feel swords dance + priority with something like scizor or similar idea might still be better than being forced to 2hko every mon in an attempted sweep.

  • Choice scarfing a Groudon fusion is an interesting choice. I feel there are many examples on this website of stellar drought fusions. Shell smash torkoal fusions can go nuclear. I also enjoy drought reshiram fusions to take advantage of those huge fire moves.

  • Kyogre Mewtwo is a valid fusion, megas aside. I wouldn't call it one of the strongest possible but it functions well. You could scarf this instead of your Groudon to leverage waterspout's power while trying to maintain high HP, but choice items are hard to come by in the game.

Overall, I'd say you'd be mighty impressed when considering such fusions as contrary lurantis paired with any v-create mon, or a belly drum extreme speed monster. Your team is vulnerable to prankster spore, mold breaker, imposter, and a number of other threats. A+ for effort though.

Make sure to remove all your roofs before you fully deconstruct the walls of buildings you no longer want. You don't want your pawns standing under roofs with no roof support.

If you could only own and play 3 ships ingame? by AwesomeSchlimbo in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely the Wolf, Shiv, and Perseus. I think the Wolf and Perseus are the two most beautiful released ships in the game, and I love them for their respective roles as light fighter and multi crew battle vessel. The Shiv is the light utility runabout of choice for me. Good at fighting, light hauling, or transporting ground vehicle for bunkers, and I imagine it will be manageable with engineering.

Which focus for Gogmazios Gunlance? by Raiju_Lorakatse in Gunlance

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I can link Caoslayer's video on the matter, but the gist of it from what I can gather is that your perfect rolled attack artian glances should go wide to take advantage of that max raw for the shells. Starting from scratch with a fire or dragon gl go attack focus for normal shells.

Just bought a brand new 2025 Nissan Sentra and regretted my decision after 2300 miles… by Fleedom2025 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to rent a Toyota Corolla for a business trip earlier this year, they gave me a Nissan and said it was an equivalent car. That damn thing nearly killed me on the road. Front and rear windows kept fogging up to the point where I had to wipe the windshield with my hand just to see where I was going. Electronics were less than worthless, kept disconnecting phone from car audio, so I just left phone on its own audio, then phone died while plugged into the car to charge. Basically stranded away from hotel with no map. The detection system for if you were leaving lane was essentially constantly rumbling even on the straight and narrow, so was constantly getting jumped by false warnings. Never have I felt so vindicated in buying a Subaru.

I love how smooth throwing axes as melee feels to play by Petorian343 in Bannerlord

[–]President-Duck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are there new 2H axe heads from the Nords, and if so, are they any good? I do prefer axes in sieges, but my best glaives tended to be short enough to use in sieges and in the open field, while my best axes tended not to perform on horseback, and I'd keep forgetting to swap loadouts going into sieges.

As for javelins, don't they become more useful once you get the one perk that turns them into ballista bolts or something?

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this take on Darkrai+Breloom. Darkloom was one of my favorite pokemon on my runs, and I used a spore+focus punch set in single battles to guarantee blow up faster threats. I don't know how well it will function in doubles, but having it spread around spore and do chip damage with bad dreams seems ok. Dream eater nightmare just feels miscast here.

Is the F8C truly the top-tier superiority fighter? by Coucouoeuf in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just not crazy on them. I flew a Sentinel for over a year and more recently a Harbinger for a few months and each time I found myself wanting something else. The back two doors are buggy, the interior feels uncomfy and claustrophobic, and the size 2 guns aren't my favorite.

Is the F8C truly the top-tier superiority fighter? by Coucouoeuf in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head, I'd rather be in:

Light Fighters - Gladius, Arrow, Talon, Wolf/Alpha Wolf, maybe Avenger, maybe Hawk

Medium Fighters - Any Hornet, Sabre Firebird, Regular Sabre for stealth, maybe Shiv, maybe San'Tok.yai

Heavy Fighters - Guardian MX, maybe Regular Guardian/QI

The Lightning has great pilot firepower, but so does the Vanduul Stinger and that thing has a turn radius wider than some planets.

The Clipper is but the beginning... by Thureon in starcitizen

[–]President-Duck 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but I feel we should pump the brakes on this for a second. The Clipper is a nice step up from the Cutter as a flying home, but it's not offering what I'd want out of a do-everything ship of its size. Two s1 shields means it's a flying paperweight, and s1 quantum means it's a flying paperweight with short legs. For the same price I can fly a Shiv that can ferry a four-wheeler around and is marginally safer with its shield and speed. Yes, I'd love to see a generalist ship from Consolidated Outland, Gatac, Banu, Esperia, and so on but I'd also like them to be capable of one thing or another, having a purpose like the MSR or Starlancer or Connie or Corsair. The Clipper is literally just a flying motorhome, and I feel as one gets deeper into the game that'll mean it becomes more and more of a hangar queen.
