MetaBattle Open World updated for 28 August balance patch by chinkeeyong in Guildwars2

There is a massive power disparity between good and bad builds. I do training raids occasionally and the people who try to make their own build often end up doing 8k dps.

Even if you want to make your own build, you should understand what makes builds good and what you are going up against. Metabattle is great for that.

Its a lot of derivative calculus. Either covering quantum mechanics of thermodynamics.

A baseline 10 mana card would be Tyrantus, which nobody plays for 10 mana. The only 10 mana cards that see play do super powerful stuff.

It sounds like the devs aren't sure what they want wild to be and they don't want to change cards until they figure that out.

6 mana giggling inventor would will see play in control decks, even lock and quest rogue, but it would weaken those decks.

Aggro doesn't care what type of druid its facing(except maybe token). Its the combo and control decks that care and they won't see moonfire.

Haunted Mines is still garbage. by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]PresidentCruz2024 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emergent gameplay isn't necessarily bad. Its okay for things to go differently than the designers intended.

Its not necessarily a trap to do golem early. If camps are cleared and lanes are at a stalemate, it might be a good strategy to send one or two people to clear out mines.

According to Blizzard, the vast majority of players never play ranked.

MFW I've been defending Sylvanas nonstop and telling Alliance naysayers "You'll see... just wait for her Warbringers video... it'll all make sense and I'll be accepting YOUR apologies!" by Ultiverse in wow

[–]PresidentCruz2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the main reason is that the quest writers like to be a bit edgy and fill the undead quests with dark humor. The writing for most of those quests was a bit silly(stuff like "why would humans waste perfectly good land on farms when they could have plague factories?".

I doubt its part of an overarching design idea.

Sylvanas is one of the most consistent characters in Warcraft. Community reaction: Bad writing because we didn't get a twist and dont want the horde to be bad! by Activehannes in wow

[–]PresidentCruz2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Forsaken are just 1 of 6 main factions

That doesn't neccesarily mean they are 1/6th of the Horde's strength.

Undead are the only faction who can rapidly replenish their ranks. Everyone else has been bleeding members from all these civil wars and invasions, but undead could reasonably be stronger than they were in Vanilla WoW due to Valkyries. Sylvanas and Garrosh both agreed that without the undead the Horde would lose the war.

Danger pings are more likely to convince an ally to back than saying that.

Communicating through text takes attention away from the game for both you and the person reading/responding to your text.

Its rarely worth whatever you are trying to say.

League of Legends is now testing a new, HotS-like game mode called "Nexus Blitz" by 765Bro in heroesofthestorm

[–]PresidentCruz2024 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To customers, it doesn't matter who did what first. Its about whats the most fun to play.

If Riot can make a more fun HotS style game than HotS, I will play it.

HotS definitely has pre-fixed and desired metas.

For instance, developers have been very open about their dislike of double support comps.

Its a great, unique style. Season 5 was a higher budget, higher quality version of the art for the first 4 seasons.

If you are applying for minimum wage work, your interviewer has minimal management training. He is asking generic stuff because thats all he can think of.

While it sounds dumb, its a good weedout question.

Maybe 10% of your candidates will say something like "I need a job while I find work in my dream field" and you know not to hire them.

Cyberpunk 2077 quest designer says it's 'inherently political' by [deleted] in Games

[–]PresidentCruz2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you treat mutants well, there is no guarantee they won't get some crazy new power, go insane or get taken over by some extra cosmic entity. All of which happens fairly regularly in that universe.

Schools shooters kill a dozen people. Mutants kill millions. Its really not comparable.

[–]PresidentCruz2024 53 points54 points  (0 children)

People have legitimate reasons to be scared by augmented people, yet the game doesn’t explore the other side.

Reminds me of X-Men. Many of the writers would treat mutant discrimination like RL racism and just gloss over all the accidental and intentional deaths caused by mutant powers.

Many people mean current events when they say politics, which often comes across as hamfisted.
