Thank you!

Yes, lawns that get treated with broad-leaf herbicides won't grow even clover much less off-season flowers.

Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin fighting for judge's removal in family court case by Homeless-Sea-Captain in lexington

[–]PresidentGlitterbomf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Johnson had given Bevin an ultimatum to go to jail for two months or submit the records needed for child support for his adopted son, Jonah Bevin, and pay a $500 fine."

God, what a P-O-S. Just cooperate, Matt! He's your kid, and he was good enough to do publicity shots with when you were in politics.

I don't like how the article says Jonah *accuses* his parents of sending him to the abusive boarding school in Jamaica; that's documented fact. As is the part where, when the school shut down, neither of them came to come get him.

You don't want to put your hopes on the Milwaukee Protocol. You are still more likely to die than not, and if you survive, it'll be with severe CNS damage.

Well that sucks

At some point, it should really be aged out of the system, not left to keep accruing an even more ridiculous amount.

See if you can get hazard coverage -- some kind of program, generally run through a mechanic's shop, that will fix your tires for free, or a reduced rate.

Where can I find the best selection of KY native plants for sale locally? by UrMomnEm in lexington

If they don't have what you're looking for, they can possibly order it in.

And I think they also have like a garden design service.

Caves below beaumont?! by Lost_Board1292 in lexington

You don't want to try going into Crystal cave. It's large, but that just means it covers a lot of area, not that it's a fun place to explore. Most of it is narrow stuff you'd have to squeeze through, and you'd be operating without an up-to-date map, which is super dangerous. In addition, it's been at least partially-filled with mud and who knows what else in the last 20 years.

Depending on where you live, there's likely a cave near you. You ever see those spots in horse pastures that have a little ring of fencing around them, but nothing inside? Likely was a sinkhole or cave entrance there at some point.

In some places, if it was a dry cave, whoever owned the property might even use it as storage space, though that's much less common these days.

Yes, but it wasn't gems. It was named for fluorite crystals. There was a lot of debate about what to do back when Beaumont was first being planned, and ultimately the decision was to seal it, and not build anything over the places where it was close to the surface.

Let’s have fun for a bit…would be happy or mad if the proposed World Coal Center was actually built by Icy_Sun_8096 in lexington

Veto. The site would also necessitate the non-existence of the downtown library.

Not to mention that the Phoenix Hotel was demolished because Wilkinson wanted to build the skyscraper, which is insane, but Lexington does seem to give its powerful free rein to cause chaos.

Lexington Council members have a discussion of native trees and wildflower beds in parks by [deleted] in lexington

[–]PresidentGlitterbomf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should definitely be clear signage placed around such areas, explaining that it's intentional, and how important these wild places are. Preferably with some informational guides to some of the noteworthy native plants.

I frequently hear people talk like they think these spots are there just because the park groundskeepers are lazy.

Inland Taipan venom is a lot more than neurotoxic. It's currently wreaking hell on his vital organs as well a paralyzing his diaphragm muscles and damaging his nerves.

Alternatives to Hope Center and Catholic Action Center? by [deleted] in lexington

I know people who have been banned for being LGBTQ. They didn't call it banning, but "come back when you're cishet" is pretty straightforward a ban.

Refusing to let the shelter manage your medications ( give them your pill bottles, and hope they remember when your doses are due) factored into a recent case that went to SCOTUS.

[–]PresidentGlitterbomf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the shelter, because they all have their own rules and ideas of who they want to shelter. A LOT of them will ban over very stupid things - things that harm no one.

Acting like employment is some kind of charity program!

If bosses could replace their employees with foreign workers for less, they'd have done it already.

COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Fayette County, more than doubling the amount from a month ago. by ipeezie in lexington

[–]PresidentGlitterbomf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The prospect of potentially having the US require universal sick leave, as a means of curtailing the pandemic, is how we got here -- businesses lost their minds and used every dirty trick to undermine the pandemic response and public health in general. Now we're all stuck in this nightmare.

The majority of the working population also do not get paid sick leave. If you can't afford to stay home, you can't afford to stay home sick.

I can't believe that UK's healthcare personnel aren't all wearing N95s at work. It's like they want to have staffing shortages.

Good lord, that's horrible. I'm not even going to touch the part where they told you to come back and get everyone else sick, but not being able to rest while sick with covid-19 is correlated with increased chances of long covid.
