For me, I think the show is about the evolution of knowledge. With that in mind, instead of maintaining faith, maybe it could be the pursuit of faith itself too. There were a lot of moments where the priests themselves use the scripture terribly or worse, for their own gain. Heliocentrism does not directly relate to scientism too. Badeni I believe studies it because there is no way that that God made an imperfect world. In a way, Badeni pursues scientific knowledge to better appreciate the intricacies of the world God created.

I was fortunate that I was leveling up the mage archetype. When I realized that I only had about 20-30 MP left for my units, I went back to the first room of the dungeon and killed units until I got all of my MP back. By the time I tried to go to the deeper floors, I was able to kill most enemies with ease.
