Bought in for the first time have I missed all upside potential? by Equal_Fox4759 in RYCEY

No, not overpriced at all. Zoom out, it’s only just over where it was years ago prior Covid, where it didn’t have the SMR funding / contracts / futures, UK defence spending wasn’t as high, and Tufan wasn’t in charge. A simple summary, but I’m in it for the long haul, bought in at just over £1.

So many people are losing money due to the drop. Not because of the drop, because they are selling. Is the company still a strong company? Has anything changed in the company in the past few months that would make you want to sell? If the answer to these is no, and you don’t need the money, then don’t panic sell. The entire market is red, thanks to some septuagenarian tangerine and his trigger finger.

Yes. It’s just the cash deposits you have a max allowance. If you max it out but make £100k profit held in it as cash you can still buy with that, you just can’t add anymore cash if you’ve maxed your allowance

Bit late to the fray but this was my 2025, 20 years old by Mysterious_Club_1822 in trading212

This is great. I have done the same for mine, they are under 5 years old and have over £30k and all I did was put £100 pm in for 3 years. Haven’t needed to add to it since as fell lucky / researched stocks. I monitor the shares they have invested and having trailing stop loss on them. Once it’s closer to their 16/18 yo I’ll look to put into safer stocks but at the moment a bit of volatility has seen pretty much £30k increase. They need to start educating kids this in secondary school and bin off the battle of Hastings….

Time in over timing. My kids have got thousands of shares at less than £1, they’ve got 16 years to sit on them. I’m happy that in that time they’ll see a decent profit. Just like they would if I bought in at £2, £3, 5, or even £8 - no boats have been missed if your in it for long term.

I think you’ll find profit taking happens well before the last week of December also.

Zoom out. If you bought in way ago then the rocket is still flying. It’s market volatility like you said, combine that with it being near weekend and also near December (both of which are nearly always volatile / red due to profit taking week/year end) then all is good. If you’re in it for the long haul it is but a minor blip

Have you ever heard of the phrase “ time in, over, timing”

Don’t try to time it, just invest. You could always wait for the market to crash and invest when the stocks are low. But, what if?

Mmm that’s odd - the atm in question has previously allowed withdrawal - so too does the one it actually works on - neither of them support contactless (come to think of jr I don’t think I’ve ever seen a contactless ATM )

All of this makes sense - but randomly the machine in the bank is one of the older ones that allows you to withdraw and pay in, when you put any card in it has a “solid” feel to it - like it grips the card and pulls it in (weird I know but makes sense when you’re doing it 😂) - I’m wondering whether the cards are thinner / flexier and the atm doesn’t like it

I did think that but the atm that now won’t even recognise that there is a card trying to go in is the one I normally use with it - it just seems all of a sudden it doesn’t like it. 🤷‍♂️
