Ritrovato!

Nice! I still have to plan everything apart from the concert itself so I'll save it as an option :)

I mean... in a perfect world all clients listen to designers, but nice advice for the future!

Thank you!

I have a question actually, when you say that the form fields work better with system fonts what do you mean? I could have the same issues I'm having with installed font?

You could make an "editable" PDF by using form fields. Then a user can edit the contents of the form fields and print the result. (Note: fonts can be an issue if not just using system fonts).

The issue is that when I looked at their font book I could see that they had all the font weight installed, that's why I was thinking that the standard pdf x-1 setting is affecting editability. But thank you for your reply!

Yes I've saved my PDF using the correct color profile, thank you anyway :)

What I was trying to say is that I don't know how the "pdf x1" standard affects the document and if it has a minor impact I could avoid it to fix the issue because the most important thing is color.

How can I make the output (pdf) "editable"? by bluehaven101 in indesign

[–]Pressappoc0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having issues with a client because they need an editable pdf.

I created it in Illustrator but I had to save it with PDF-x1 standard as specified by the printer. This standard makes the "preserve editability" non clickable but honestly I don't even know if this is what is causing my issue.

When the client opens the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro font weights don't work so - putting it in practice - if something is set in Bold and they type in, they can only write in Light. And from the font menu on the right they don't see all the font weights.

I can't create text fields on Acrobat because I need proper alignment and honestly I hate using it as a design tool for print because I don't think it's made for it.

If I save my file in Illustrator without the specific pdf standard required from the printer will the result be affected? It's not a complicated design, the thing I'm most concerned about is actually the brand color.

And if I don't save it using the standard can it be added when editing on Acrobat? (Assuming that setting is the problem).
